I've been ordered to 'inform the troops' that a Star Wars Battlefront server will be going up sometime next week. Not Battlefront 2. The older cheaper one. So, anyone that wants to join, go buy it and get ready. He didn't say anything about being topless or anything though. But, I know I will be.

Should be able to buy it for less than $20.

Is this game worth it? How many peeps will be playing?

Why stick with 1 and not go to 2?

Because 1 is cheap and I prolly won't get 2.......

1 is fun too. People talk highly of the improvements made to 2, but, it's also $50. DTMANers are cheap and won't spend that much to game. . . .

And Gordon will do as he's told as far as SW:BF2.

From what I've seen, SW:BF1 was unplayably buggy for a while after it was first released. Remember that thread when I was trying to get it to load?

Well, if I'm voting, I'd rather spend $50 for something that works and is updated, rather than $10-20 on something that has problems and is old.

Again, only if it's good and we're going to play it.

I bought mine at Target. Two in fact so I could play with my kid. Both copies worked fine. Gordon bought a used copy from back in the olden days and had problems with it. What ever issues they had, they are fixed now. In my opinion. We wasted time letting him load from one of my CDs, and it worked fine for him, if memory serves. He just had to enter his own CD code. SW:BF1 is fun and worth the $20. $20 = more people buying it and playing it. More people playing it = more fun. Keep Gordon's PC skills in mind before judging it! :-)

As far as going to play it. . . I'd say it would get played just as much as AvP2 did. Over all, this isn't a heavy gaming community, so, I'd say it won't get over played, but, it should get played.

We could have play dates and stuff, like girls. Except with fragging.

And my point was, BF1 was buggy as hell initially... I have no reason to not expect the same for BF2.

I'm mostly available on Friday nights. Most other nights are hit and miss. I figured we'd do this like we used to: For the long games (like TA) we'd set up a time, for random death match type games (like AvP) we can set times or just show up on the server.

Sign me up for SS2 co-op, Supreme Commander multi, and I guess I'll play Battlefront as well. I had a blast during the AvP 2 multi games, so this should be fun.

I'll pick up SS2 and Battlefront (whichever version is ultimately decided upon) sometime this week. Maybe tonight if I get out of work on time.

SW:BF1 is $22.
SW:BF2 is $44.

BF is $18.99 on Amazon. Of course, doesn't PriceWatch include shipping?

I just went and bought SS2 and SW:BF1.

I'm keeping 1 in the wrapper in case we decide on buying 2 which looks much cooler.

Thing is, I don't want to buy BF2. For now. I don't think I'd get $50 of enjoyment out of it.

I will, however, get $30 of enjoyment out of it, and will purchase then.

I gotta buy SS2 and Civ4 and AoE3 at the moment. And Quake 4. And a new Mobo, CPU, and video card that will run all of it.

BF2 is low on my "to buy" queueueueue.

So far, there's 4 people with 1 in hand, and no one with 2 in hand. If a BF2 server goes up, and there's more than 4 people with BF2 in hand, I'll probably pick it up. If a BF1 server goes up, and the four people with it play, well, I'll be one of them.

So, as it stands:

BF1 server scheduled for this week
4 people with BF1

BF2 server not scheduled to go up
0 people with BF2

In reality, I'm down for whatever. But, it looks like it's BF1 for now.

So far, we have Gordon, Liesher, Cake, and my kid lined up to play. Is anyone else joining? If so, which version?

Why Quake4? And AoE is gay. That's right GAY. And Civ4 is gay too. Why do you buy gay games?

Are there any good flight sim/space sims out there that we can have multi fun with joysticks? Wow. . . didn't that sound gay. . .

Quake 4 was high on my list, but I just read the latest PCGamer and they don't give it glowing marks. They claim it's very "same old, same old, with absolutely nothing new.

I was hoping it would have the same feel as Quake 2.

I guess it does pick up where Quake 2 left off...

I'm going to be loading and trying Painkiller later this week. I've heard great things. Take Serious Sam's number of enemies with Doom's hell theme, that's Painkiller apparently.

Ooo.

So it's basically Doom 2.
