Had to google it as there's no mention of it on CNN at this time. Article

If true, it's very interesting that this happened in New York (remember a few years back when a newspaper there published a list of gun owners?) and California.

We always ask how hacking by foreign powers of U.S. corporations and public entities are not considered acts of war. When you release information about your citizens, what is that? Aren't you actively hoping something bad happens to these people or trying to shame or bully them? If something does, the state should be sued and the AG held criminally responsible.

California, and all the West, is suffering through a drought. California routinely has massive wildfires. Then there's the looming threat of the next big earthquake.

Enter megafloods.

There's a Moses joke in here somewhere...

Because they spend so much time on the internet mocking Texas's power grid, probably.

California thinks parking is going to solve their high housing prices AND solve global warming.

The article seems skeptical. Also, nobody tell them that concrete is responsible for 8% of greenhouse emissions...

It's kinda bullshit.... iirc, wages are supposed to be.... no more than like 24% (this is a loooong pull out of my brain) of operating expenses? So if wages go up 25% (or whatever), that's only a 12% increase in the cost of what they sell. In my observation fast food prices are up at least 25% already in the last year, already, and that can't be explained by a new wage law.

Met a dude from SF yesterday who had moved to Raleigh 3 months ago. Asked him why, and he said because SF was a hellhole now. He's a troop leader for his kids scout thing. They were cleaning up for a service project, and got to see a homeless man shit on The sidewalk near them.

He was walking about the school experience. Kids grade their own exams. There are no percentile or letter grades, lest kids get stigmatized. No kids can go faster than other kids, due to equity, etc.

Oh, he was also super unhappy about being CTO for. Startup where he was hiring kids for $200k a year and they would refuse to work on certain projects or technogies etc

Powerball wasn't aired live due to "technical difficulties".

The sole winning ticket was sold in CA.

Nothing shady about this at all!

Congratulations to the CIA, I hope this fully funds your operations for the next year.

Well, 2 bill is worth the risk of a little crime. Maybe someone had the plan and was waiting for a jackpot worth the risk.

I can't imagine no one has ever considered a lottery scam. As I said, $2B is worth taking that risk, no?

My bet is mafia.

Remember how the McDonald's Monopoly game was rigged for years? A group of people running it out of Chicago were winning all the biggest prizes through friends.

Well that just sounds like a ridiculous conspiracy theory. (Yes, I know it happened)

California votes no on gambling.
Proposition 26 would have allowed casinos and the state's four major horse tracks to offer sports betting in person. The initiative bankrolled by a coalition of tribes would also have allowed roulette and dice games at casinos. A 10% tax would have helped pay for enforcement of gambling laws and programs to help gambling addicts.
Emphasis mine there. WTF?! 10% is HUGE and not "pay for", but "helped pay for".
Proposition 27 would have allowed online and mobile sports betting for adults. Large gaming companies would have had to partner with a tribe involved in gambling or tribes could have entered the market on their own. That measure was backed by DraftKings, BetMGM and FanDuel -- the latter is the official odds provider for The Associated Press -- as well as other national sports betting operators and a few tribes.
Both proposals seems like garbage and props to the voters for rejecting them. Ohio stupidly jumped on the first gambling bill they ever saw and as a result there are four casinos in the state run by one company. No other casinos or companies are allowed thanks to that law and voters not reading it.

How about a new bill for CA?
"Vote 'Yes' and it'll be legal for CA residents to gamble through apps like FanDuel."

That's it. That's the bill. No bullshit promises. No restrictions requiring backdoor deals. Just "Would you like this right or not?"

CA found a solution to their shrinking population.

I'd move there. Can't wait until this gets done for Italians.
