Yeah, I want.

I am hoping that if they see me checking my acceptance status 8 times a day, they will realize that I really want it and let me in.

If you're not around WiFi for whatever reason, Fi will switch to either Sprint or T-Mobile depending on which has the stronger cellular signal, a feature that's unique to Fi, at least as far as US carriers go.

My phone on Ting does exactly that, too. That's not unique to Fi.

Ting uses T-Mobile for GSM and Sprint for CDMA. Your phone does both?

Oh, no, it's GSM. I sometimes see it attached to Sprint towers, but I just did some reading up and apparently that is referring to data connections (LTE) not cellular connections.

My bad.

Ok, Daddy is signed up. Just bought a Nexus 5X from them for about $370, and I entered in all the "port my number" information, so as soon as the phone gets here I can kill Verizon. For my phone, anyway, wife's and others will remain on Verizon while I field test mine. But I'll be on Google Fi and that makes me awesome.

Yay.

So how the hell do I transfer data from my old phone to new... Verizon just always did that shit for me. I bet it will be automatic assuming they ship me the phone with my google account info already entered, huh. Time to double check I am backing up my existing data to the google cloud or wtf it's called.

When you load up the Google 5X, it'll give you some migration thing. Life is easier if all stuff is in the Google Cloud

Vince will read this and make the evil eye at us.

But yeah I checked my phone, and apparently my shit is all backing up to my google account.... sooooooo.... we shall see.

Really the most important thing would be contacts. Everything else, as far as I can remember, is just files I can re-upload.

Contacts are easy, and you can just verify them at contacts.google.com

When you get your Google Glasses I'm going to punch you in your stupid face.

For your own good.

I'm not getting on board with that until it is undetectable Google NuEyes.

Dumb question... first timer.... when I activate this new phone, does Verizon automatically know I just told them to GFT, or do I have to shut down that account with them myself?

You need to shutdown that account, I believe. I had to cancel Ting, although, when I logged in, all my devices were gone.

Damn I ported my cell number from Verizon to Google Fi tonight, and Verizon is already pissed at me.... looks like they removed my online account credentials. I have to reregister.

I've paired my phone via BT to the home phone system, and my car... and I have told it that my home wifi is a trusted source... but when I go place to place, it isn't auto-connecting to anything. I need to manually go in and tell it to reconnect. I am going to hit up goggle fi support later, but does this sound familiar to anyone offhand?

You mean WiFi Assistant? Or networks you've connected to previously?
