At least Disney probably has "make people really happy" in their mission statement. Probably.

“The Walt Disney Company's objective is to be one of the world's leading producers and providers of entertainment and information, using its portfolio of brands to differentiate its content, services and consumer products. The company's primary financial goals are to maximize earnings and cash flow, and to allocate capital toward growth initiatives that will drive long-term shareholder value.”
TIL: Disney has one of the worst mission statements I've ever read.

That's the public one. The secret one is different.

I've seen at least 3 for Disney World, who apparently turned 50 yesterday.

I will say this, one of those came from one of my most liberal friends, and another came from one of my most conservative friends, so you know, at least political people can agree on non-sensical corporate bullshit.

You know how on an Android phone you can say "Ok Google" and it opens up an inquiry prompt and waits for you to say something?

I must have somehow deactivated my ability to just tell the phone "Ok Google," and have that happen. Anyone know where the setting is?

It's a super handy function for when i'm driving. I wont text or look at the screen, but i will talk to it and say somehting like, "Navigate me to the nearest gay bar because i'm looking for Leisher."

But "OK Google" is no longer opening that prompt.

Look under settings for Assistant, perhaps.

It may vary by phone, which do you have?

Pixel 2.

That functionality worked, until one day it didn't.

I know the microphone still works, I do speech to text quite often.

Pixel 2 allows squeezing, too.
On your phone, touch and hold the Home button or say "Ok Google."
When asked if you want to turn on the Google Assistant, tap Turn on.

I used to be able to do it from across the room. Now I have to touch something?

I thought that would turn it on for voice

Well, yes, since you broke the voice only option.

Best Buy cancels their orders for the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Let's set aside that it easily breaks and reviewers are bashing the shit out of it. It's a $2,000 dollar phone. WTF?

Hey, if someone else was paying the bill, I'd consider it :)

A nice large screen to replace a tablet? Yes.

I got hit by a drive-by app install for the first time, somehow.

It started in Hocking Hills, so I have a hunch it was related to the hotel WiFi.

I started getting ads on the lock screen. I unlock my phone, there's a full screen ad. I would look at "Recent Apps" to try and figure out which one was doing it, but I'd never used that function so I didn't know what "normal" looked like. Spoiler - one of the "recent apps" was the Bluetooth Connect icon. I certainly use BT, so that didn't raise a red flag.

A day later I gave it more thoughts... the ads all had "download this app through Google Play!" in common. SO I went into Google Play Store, and found a setting enabled for ad notifications. Ok, it must have updated. Disabled.

Next day, ads again. I took a closer look at my "Recent Apps..." the BT icon was bugging me. I opened it, and saw that apparently I was using the free version of "Bluetooth Auto Connect," and I could upgrade to pro for $ if I wanted.

Well that didn't look kosher at all. Something snuck that sneaky app on my phone, somewhere. Uninstalled it, haven't gotten a lock screen ad since. The legit-bluetooth still works. So.

That software had a late June update that caused adware/malware, and tons of people are complaining. It may be that you had the app for a while, and only recently updated.

Huh. I wonder why it was even on my phone.

All those comments are people pissed about having to take the time to figure out BTAC was now an adware app, and uninstalling it.

This happened to a Chrome add-on I used. It suddenly became adware about a month ago. I removed it, then tried to figure out what happened. Chrome store had already removed it, so there was no evidence it had ever existed, basically.

Sure would be nice if they NOTIFIED you when they did that.
