I have to carry an iPhone for work and AT&T shipped me an iPhone 6 Plus last Friday. My initial thoughts are that it's big, lighter than the 5S I carried, and seems to be exactly like the previous phone, just bigger.
Before you go nuts, I also use a Nokia Windows phone whose carrier is Verizon. Got to know them both so I can support them...
Anyway, the bigger screen is nice, and from what I understand makes it a "phablet". I don't mind the whole "can't work it with one hand" thing because I seem to be able to, and that seems like a complaint for folks driving, who shouldn't be on their phones, or people who are jerking it.
The new OS though, iOS 8, is buggy. I'm posting some links below highlighting both features and common problems people are having.
I'm seeing other issues:
-I've noticed some of my apps no longer work, which isn't on Apple, but on the App makers. However, something that is on Apple is reduced functionality in Safari. Sure, I can open more tabs, but I've hit an issue multiple times where I open a new tab, surf to a page, and then can't interact with that new page. Closing the tab, and then the entire program seems to help resolve the issue, but it happens a LOT.
-I've noticed that the screen tilt recognition isn't working as well as it should be. It works most of the time, but there are moments where it'll get "locked" and no matter which way you turn the screen, it stays in the same vertical position.
-Interestingly, despite The Fappening Apple REALLY pushes the iCloud stuff in this new phone. Basically forcing integration. Combine that with the second link below, and you can probably see where some folks would be pissed about that.
WiFi and battery issues are apparently unannounced features in iOS 8.
Your photos don't actually delete for 30 days.
