Even if they had made that, the companies probably would have split apart in the future, but there's a small chance that Nintendo could have focused on games instead of platforms (but maybe they still do the Gameboy?).
Would a Nintendo/Sony union have dominated the world? Could the X-Box ever have succeeded (not that it's a money maker)?
