Over the top TV service (over the top of your internet?).

Streaming for $20/month, includes:
Disney
ESPN
ESPN 2
AMC
Several others - Details here

You can buy a few other bundles (more sports, more kids, and one other) for $5/each.

I signed up today with this deal. $60 for 3 months + a Free Fire TV Stick

I already have Fire TV, but this way I can have a device that will travel with me, and have those channels.

So far it's pretty much what is says. Service vary by channel though. Some will let you pause, move forward/back, others won't. Some have TV-on-demand, some don't.

Canceling cable shortly.

Damn, the basic package would make everyone happy except the kid. Where's Nickelodeon?

That's missing WAY too many channels for us.

Your cable company sucks.

The wife's main channel is Fox News. Mine is TBS and Adult Swim. Those are covered.

We would miss AMC for Walking Dead, she would miss Fox News.

I guess I would miss FX for Archer.

AMC just got added

Honestly, the only channel I really want this for is ESPN. I don't watch anything else live.

Interesting. Some of those European soccer channels aren't viewable (streaming aside) without 100 dollar cable subs attached.

What's the DVR situation?

None at present.

And only 1 stream at a time.

We recently bought the Amazon version of the leaf antenna for OTA networks.

Can you do a homebrew DVR routing it through a PC?

Also, 1 stream sucks.

Not that I know of yet. Perhaps they'll add it.

We only ever watch 1 thing at once (1 tv), so I'm not worried about it.

The single stream might be a deal breaker for me.

If it weren't for ESPN, I wouldn't even want TV. So I may cancel this in 3 months.

Restrictions, etc

More Pause/Rewind would be nice.

It's worked well for us, I used it a lot during the NCAA tourney, and the kids use it for the kid channels.

And... canceled. Then, back to cable.

It wasn't sling's fault. But it's summer, so hell if I care about having ESPN, and paying $30/month ($25 / month + taxes) so I can have Disney Jr for the kids isn't going to work.

Then, since we only have Internet, we can get phone + TV + DVR for $110/month (taxes + fees included). Which, net of internet + phone, means $40/month for TV, which means the DVR and all the extra channels are $10/month, net of Sling.

Signed up again, got 2 months for 1 month. Will cancel once that ends.

In the meantime, YouTube.TV has been announced.
Stream ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC & more.
Never run out of DVR storage space.
6 accounts, 1 price.
$35/month. Cancel anytime.
I assume that 6 accounts means 6 streams at once? But, the cloud-DVR is attractive. I'll try it out whenever it comes out.

We've been using Sling for a few months now. Love it. Have the $40 best-they-got package. It's basically got every channel we'd ever want. ESPN to SYFY to HGTV to FX to FS1+2 and on...

An episode of The Expanse wasn't making it on to their in-demand system, so I tweeted at them. They responded pretty fast and got it up, solid customer service.

I guess my one complaint is that some of the channels are completely on-demand once they've aired. Like HGTV and Viceland. Then a few, like Comedy Central, are live only. So if I miss the Daily Show's first slot I have to wait for the second airing.

They sent us a free Roku for signing up. But it runs on the Apple TV so we don't use it. Might have thrown it away.

I use the free Fire TV Stick as a travel stick, so it goes with me to hotels and other places so I can stream my own stuff via Plex. That being said, I was foiled last week in the Bahamas, cuz the TVs were so old they didn't have HDMI ports.
