Why do people always expect advanced AI to have biological imperatives? The desire for survival, procreation, and competition are all evolutionary traits. It's just as likely that the first AI will immediately kill itself. It's even more likely that it won't care either way about it's personal survival or competing with humans.
Should we be careful? Sure, but not any more than we would with any other potential technological advance.
