So when i reloaded my system and installed all the mobo chipset drivers and shit IRST became available, and I had a faint memory of seeing that before when I built the system and NOT enabling it because I didn't have the time to research what it was at the time, then I forgot all about it. Supposedly it speeds your shit up by using more flashy cache, with the danger being that with more data in cache at any given time if you lose power you stand more risk of killing your install because of unwritten data.

Well this time I activated it. Not sure if I am seeing a performance increase on my Raid 0 drives, or not. I like to think I am because being an optimist is in my nature.

Anything know anything about it?

You should not see a performance increase in RAID 0.

IRST is just the RAID manager in your case.

If you had an SSD and HDD you could setup Intel Smart Response to automatically put more frequently used stuff on the SSD. Here

IRST is the replacement for Matrix Manager, which is Intel's old (2000's era) RAID manager.

I played around with the ISRT thing today, enabled it. There's a 64GB max you can use. Not sure if it's actually making my machine faster.

On the other hand, the problems caused by that patch made me realize I had two 500GB SSDs lying around, so I may rebuild the machine with RAID 1 SSD boot instead of the current RAID 5 normal drive boot.

And there are two settings: One cannot lose data, 1 can.
