I would want one, if work would buy it. I really want a lightweight 11.6"-12" tablet with 1080p.

Does 1080P matter on a screen less than 10"? Can the human eye detect the diff between that and 720P when 16" away?

Yes, and yes.
I stepped on my original iPad the other day, and cracked the screen. Bought a used iPad 3 to replace it, and the screen is amazing. Beforehand I knew the resolution would look nicer (having gone from similar pixel density changes on my phone last upgrade), but it looks REALLY nice and sharp at the higher resolution. I think it's actually 2048-by-1536, so more than 1080p.
