Anyone else parts shopping? According to Tomshardware.com, the Core 2 Duo outperforms the Quad core cpu (6600) in all game benchmarks except for one, and even in that one, it loses to the quad by only a very small margin (about 3 fps). Am I missing something, or are games that apposed to quad core technology? Even the Supreme Commander test showed the Duo outperforming the quad. What are you finding?

We covered this before, kinda.

Pretty much, it's hard for games to use and synch all those threads, so most don't use more than 1 or 2.

I'm sure we'll get there, especially for games that have lots of off-camera processing/synching (like simulation games).

Games need to start using one of those cores in lieu of a physics card, which is a great idea in concept but pretty much unnecessary in a world of underutilized quad cores.

And graphics processing, for that matter.
