Some of you are going to love this list. You are techies and IT people.
Some of you won't get this list, especially #1. You are the people who call us techies for help in printing out an email from your friend Bobbysmom46@aol.com and say shit like "LOL".

Hey, I've got a CueCat in a box in the closet somewhere. It was actually pretty good, as long as you used it as a free barcode scanner and completely skipped using their software package.

Hell I loved my zip drive back when hard drives were friggin expensive. Though they had a competitor that made a superior removable storage thingy, could even run dos games on it without slowdown.... wish I could remember the name of it now.

I must have had one of the bad ones. Used it for a while and it was great. Ran games from it also. Then, one day, it stopped reading them. Even new ones didn't work. Got a replacement drive and it couldn't read any of the disks either. Just gave up on it eventually as drive costs came down.

The only time AOL was any good was when the chat rooms were unmoderated. Use to LOVE joining random chat rooms, picking a random person in the group and saying anything and everything to try to get everyone else in the room to hate that person.
Sometimes I'd win, other times the room would gang up on me.
But then they put in the 'complain' feature (or what ever it was) in which case you could be banned for doing that. And when we were, we stopped activating the disks to get free AOL time.
AOL is also good for some free access when you go on vaction and need access because your broadband is at home. But, with wireless being damn near everyone, that's even becoming less of a feature.

AOL bought out my old ISP back in 96, but I ended up sticking with them until I got high speed in 2000.
It'd be hard for me to put Free PCs on that list though. The girl I was dating at that time signed up, and got one. They went out of business a few months later, and boom - she had a free PC that was worth about $600-800. They even provided instructions for removing all their crapware.

In '96 or 97 AOL bought "The Imagination network," which was at the time the best multi-gaming site out there.
They immediately shut it down and recommended to all subscribers that they get AOL, which would be incorporating all the games and stuff. They never incorporated all the games and stuff.

I made a lot of money off of AOL stocks in the late 90s.
That's the only good thing I can say about AOL.
