Sure it sounds like hot air, but if you think about it, Yahoo has been doing things the "good" way.

If media outlets really pressed this issue it could hurt Google, especially if they tried to claim past damages.

If you don't want your site to be indexed by a search engine, put a robots.txt file on your page, listing the sites it's not allowed to touch.
Or request that Google not index it.

Poof! Problem fixed. Now see how much money you make with no search engine leading people there.

You assume that the people who make the decisions at these media outlets understand technology.

I started in the media in 1997(8?) and on day 2 went to my bosses to discuss increasing our web presence as I felt it would replace our form of media sooner rather than later. They didn't listen, I was right.

My point is, why would the media bosses listen now? They think ink will last forever.
