17 million row SQL query, I can't edit the MOTHERFUCKING, GODDAMN table keys or indices.

If that happens again you can open up another session and drop or add indices as needed. The performance will improve instantly, at least it did in Oracle.

I'm not really sure what you're specifically doing...

Write an SQL to write the entire db into your own test db, then bust it into managable chunks.

Or whatever.
