MS AntiSpyware (Beta)

I have not tried it. I haven't had any spyware issues on my personal PC, so I don't feel the need to play Russian Roulette with a MS beta I don't need.

I heartily encourage you all to try it though, and let me know how things turn out.

As it is a microsoft product, I give it 1 week before a virus is designed to specifically comprimise it and turn the PC into a zombie.

I've been throwing everything I can think of at this one malicious piece of advertising software. I installed the MS program it appears to have gotten rid of it.

I'll post more if I have more to tell.

Stupid MS program fixed the problem. Now I don't have a reason to hate it.

I'll try it again on the next problem computer.

MS bought that software from some other highly respected spy ware clean up company thing. That's prolly why it's working so well. And, it's also prolly only gonna be free while it's beta. But then, once it's not beta, it'll be all MS'ed up. And then who's gonna want it?

I guess microsoft would be the best at removing spyware since they created most of the flaws that allows spyware onto a system in the first place.

I just got hit by some sort of adware.

Browser got hijacked, and wouldn't let me go to the microsoft spyware web page.

Tricked it and got there anyway, and installed microsoft spyware killer (or whatever).

Adaware said I was clean, microsoft's found a browser hijacker.

Cleaned it with microsoft's product.

Now IE doesn't open at all, but Firefox does. That's a hell of an intuitive anti-spyware program, heh.

I feel a reload coming in my near future.

Maybe MS made the browser hijacker so that you'd go there.

Well there we go.

I just used "XP Windows Restore" for the first time, to restore yesterday's save point.

Things seem to be fine now.

I was about to start backing up files for a system reload.

Yeah, but I found out that you can't run Windows Update on Firefox. I had an interesting catch-22 going.

Yeah, that's a pain. Downloading the administrative updates (which can be done with FireFox) is always a pain in the ass too. I have yet to fiind a way to download all the administrative updates in one big chunk.

the last windows update made 2 of my systems unbootable.
