House OKs Bill Imposing 'Spyware' Fines
The House voted 399-1 to approve the bill. Rep. Ron Paul (news, bio, voting record), R-Texas, who often votes against spending measures, cast the lone dissenting vote Tuesday.
From this I conclude that all Republicans are idiots.

Only thing is... the worse of the spyware originates outside US borders. How you gonna enforce it?
It probably is a waste of money.

Yes, but the most important thing is to show that Congress Cares.

The only thing that may matter is... it is setting a precident that spyware is illegal in the US. I guess, maybe, this is a first step to making the production of spyware an extradition-worthy crime....?

If spyware is outlawed, only outlaws will have spyware.

Maybe we can eventually get UN sponsored trade sanctions against spyware producing countries.

This is a Bush conspiracy. In late October he'll announce a preemptive strike on the purveyors of spyware. Americans will rally around him and he'll sweep the election with 85% of the vote.
He'll also pull out Osama Bin Laden, and find that Coool Web Search was created on a laptop in his cave.
