I'm going to take a wild guess and say that your Desktop folder for the All Users profile is inaccessable.
Either make a new one, or do a thorough scandisk.
I didn't know the warning messages would pop up like that. I can see once, but that seems ridiculous.

I just shut it down, and I'll deal with it tonight when I get home. I'm sure it's not important.
To be honest, I only got two boxes (one of each shape above), but Explorer was wonked so that it wasn't refreshing the background. Moving the boxes around resulted in the artifacts you see in the screenshot above.
It sure does look scarry, though, eh?
