Hard to remember them all, but I bought music from independent artists this past year, nothing from the corporate labels. Pomplamoose and A Shell in the Pit come to mind, but there were several others as well.

If your mp3s are tagged you can just pull it up in Winamp and sort them by year.

I got a bit of respect for the musicianship of the two dudes that wrote and produced the song.

I will grant that maybe it's not your thing. Hell, it wouldn't have been my thing just a few years ago. I don't know exactly why, but I've been listening to and enjoying "pop" a lot more lately. And as pop music goes, 1989 is quite simply phenomenal.

Taylor Swift is attractive, talented, young, and successful, which means a lot of folks will hate her just out of jealousy. Others will hate her because their kids play her songs non-stop.

However, she seems to be a somewhat decent person. She doesn't have a ton of scandals, doesn't try to use sex to sell her wares (Madonna, Miley Cyrus, etc.), has publicly acknowledged that she's aware little girls look up to her so she tries to keep her act clean, etc. Compare that to Justin Beiber...

The worst thing people say about her is that she's had a lot of boyfriends. Oh no! You mean a young, rich woman who 99% of guys would want to fuck just to say they did or fuck just to get her money is having trouble finding the right guy? Not to mention she works in an industry filled with guys with massive egos and who have attractive pussy being thrown at them non-stop and willing to fulfill all their perverse fantasies. Going one step farther, bashing her for this is so unfair when people like John Mayer are looked upon as a god because of all the tail he's gotten.

Plus, she's got some catchy songs.

I've got no issues with Taylor Swift.

I think that album is more of a Max Martin/Shellbac production. I'll revisit that perhaps later in the day when I've had some 'shine. I'll say there's at least one song on there that falls into my "I can't believe I don't 100% hate this" ... which is a strange personal genre filled with seemingly random audio odds and ends.

people like John Mayer

His name needs to be near the top of the list of "douchebags who ruined the guitar." He's a great technical player. He's a boring musician, a hideous vocalist, and a below average writer. He's a less talented Jack Johnson (not the boxer) with no substance.

And Hollywood is basically a who's-who of hot women he's fucked.

Hey, the dude from Third Eye Blind cut a big swath through that crowd back in the day. He's back to being nothing.

I also bought several tracks from Kawehi last year, too.
