I preferred chapter books at bedtime, rather than a Dr. Suess book for the 80th time. And that kid always knew when I skipped a page.

I read him The Hobbit when he was 9-ish.... at the end, he made me start over at the beginning.

I loved some of the Suess books because I did something fun for each that both I and the kids enjoyed. Like doing each character in a different voice, trying to read Fox in Socks as fast as possible without mistakes, and so on.
