Big'un.

My wife and children are supposed to be flying home Saturday around 3:30pm into RDU. I'm guessing that does not happen.

I remember those days, watching a hurricane coming for half a week.

This one would have been nice and close to ya.

As it is, looks like it will hit just west of where my parents' beach condo is. So hopefully it's still there on Sunday.

Trying to figure out if I'll have some good windsurfing wind.

From a friend who's a professional met:
Let me be clear about something....Hurricane Irene is perhaps the most over-hyped weather event in news history. These people are running around like the world is going to end in New York City. The thing won't even be a hurricane when it gets up there. You will see the phrase "we dodged a bullet" about 50 times in the news on Monday. Ridiculous.

Well, you know climate change is making the hurricanes worse, so we have to be ready. Plus, you know...Bush and Katrina.

I have noticed that the wind forecasts for tomorrow are lower now than they were earlier.

Yeah, they're now predicting it will only be a Cat 1 when it hits, instead of cat 3.

I've heard Obama is going to start blaming the bad economy on bad weather/earthquakes/and shit, so they gotta hype them.

Heard from conspiracy theorists?

Hurricane was cat 1 at landing, two piers washed away, lots of power out, but otherwise things seem to be fine around my parents' place - Atlantic Beach/ Pine Knoll Shores.

Windy here, some power outages, lots of debris on the roads.

Looks weak. We'll be at the beach the day after it passes.

You can find the big shells and stuff after a storm.

I taunted it so it started moving closer to where I live. We'll see if I have power Tuesday :)

Nothing noticeable, other than lots of leaves on the ground, and it rained a lot yesterday and overnight.

My parents (at the beach), don't have power though.

Parent got power back already. Apparently in between us was at least one tornado.

Hopefully Thib's extended family will be ok?

A few days ago this thing was supposed to hit as a Cat 1, now it's projected to be 150 mph. Fuuccckkk.

Yeah, the eye is supposed to pass right over, maybe a bit east, of home. It's a cat 2 now, but that still aint no joke.
