Last night there was a Census PSA saying that we need the census so we'll know how many hospitals to build in our community (not to mention so that we'll get our "fair share of funding.")

Question: is this priceless Census info also used to determine the correct number of gas stations, Taco Bells, strip joints, liquor stores, Wal*Marts, Starbucks, rib shacks, etc.?

Just got mine today. Can't wait to fill it out. We could use a Taco Bell and a titty bar.

I noticed the government paid a million or two for a census Superbowl ad.

Money well spent in a recession.

I'm hoping for a taco stand.

Although, I have no idea what my wife put for our info. Maybe everyone should lie so we get more than our fair share.

Do they ask political affiliation?

Nope don't ask for political association. Just who lives in the house, then the race of said people and who owns it and do you pay rent to them. (Must be for the Amish)
And it comes with a disclaimer that none of the information will be made public for 72 years. If that is true or not I don't know.

Public, yes. But there's a history of turning the information over to agencies for purposes of "national security" in case of a "national emergency". IMO that wasn't justifiable in WWII considering what they did with it, and it won't be justifiable now, but I do expect it to happen sometime in the next few years in the hunt for possible terrorists.

I'll answer the first question. The second seems to be them asking if I lied on the first question which pisses me off, but I'll answer it. The rest are N/A as far as I'm concerned.

Heard a radio commercial for the census, today.

Guy was talking about how his town has grown, and the bus line has added more buses over time. "Without the census letting us know how we've grown, we'd still be running 3 buses.... 3 VERY CROWDED buses, ha ha."

Are they serious?

Sadly, yes. They are.

Without our federal masters to tell us how to do everything we'd all be dead in a week.

How does the government knowing your race or whether or not you're in a house or an apratment figure into how many buses you get? Did they explain that part?

It ask you if you own or rent. If you have a mortgage. Or I thought comically one of the questions was something like. Do you live in a house owned by someone else and not pay rent. Are you a Freeloader?

I never even saw the form, wife did it before I got home.

Apparently if you don't answer all 10, you can expect a visit from a census worker.

That's fine. I'll tell him "None of your business" just like I wrote on the form.
