Last time I was interviewed in person. Because we never got a mailer. JS traveled Toledo with his sister Linda because he wouldn't let her interview people in certain parts of town alone.

So what happened in this area... the registered democrats got the census to be counted, and the registered republican did not?

I actually don't know what any of y'all are registered as.

You have to register there as one or the other? Like when you fill out your voter registration?

Weird.

Weird.

I don't know about HAVE to... there was a box on the registration form... but... how else do they know how to gerrymander? Is it just from voting results?

Here the only time it comes up is if you vote in the primary. When you do they stamp your card with a little rubber stamp for the party of the primary you voted in. That's to make sure you don't try to vote in both.

Made me a little nervous to claim on paper to be a republican. As much as the left likes to call the right wing a bunch of nazis, it is historically the socialists who round people up and put them in reeducation/death camps.

Yeah. The hard, right-wing fundamentalists tend to be extremely forgiving.

Those groups tend to be socialist as well.

You're proposing there are right-wing socialists?

If you look at the programs Hitler had going on in Nazi Germany, they were pretty socialist.

Indeed, most of the more atrocious socialist programs of the 20th century were right-wing driven. They're way more forceful about the whole thing than the lefties are, too. Because they're more likely to shoot you if you don't get in line.

That's right-wing in the modern "politically 'conservative'" sense, not right-wing in the traditional "small government" sense.

I don't know if I'd go that far. The Soviets killed more people (noncombatants) than Hitler. And China beat them both.

That being said, they tend to be two sides of the same coin. The thing they have in common is great big intrusive government.

Outside of attempts at racial genocide, anyone who wont get with the program (Soviet socialism, Pol Pot socialism, Mao socialism) has to be destroyed ... that is the heart of the millions who have been murdered in camps in the 20th century.

I see a lot more of that fanaticism from the left in the last decade than I have seen from the right. Attacks on Sarah Palin have been a magnitude more personal and nasty than any attacks from the right in any actual debate. I mean hey, she is against abortion. What a monster.

And I've been indirectly called a racist more in the last 2 years than... well, I've never been called a racist, before that. But any day I've read the news since Obama entered the national political scene, I've been indirectly called a racist.

Things are getting nasty. Claiming to be a republican, on paper, has an element of danger to it.

Further thought: Obama Socialism has progressed to the point that a new political party is spontaneously forming to oppose it... the so-called "Tea Partiers." They are the new target for leftist/socialist hatred. Forgetting the fringe that was present at anti-Bush rallies over the last decade, they highlight the fringe showing up for the Tea Party rallies and claim the fringe represents the whole, painting them as racist, elitist monsters.

A villain is being created. What happens with it remains to be seen. Can't have a good genocide story without a villain to fear.

If he gets voted out next election, I'll believe you about the new political party thing. Till then, it's corrupt asshole A or corrupt asshole B.

These new political parties pop up throughout American history; they are just always absorbed into one of the big 2. Can't say I would be upset to see the Tea Party ideas adopted by the Republicans.

Truth be told, the only way I see the Democrats keeping power in November is if the Tea Party cuts the "conservative" vote in half. Even people who fully embrace the Tea Party philosophy might be afraid to "waste their vote."

This guy says illegals were counted as citizens.

http://www.henrymakow.com/confessions_of_a_census_worker.html

Not sure if that is an issue, though.... isn't the census supposed to count everyone living in the country, period?
