Just curious. No judgments from me.... McCain could have very well been just as bad.

I still think Palin was treated unfairly, though, and continues to be.

Agreed on Obama and McCain. As for Palin, I think the Dems are vicious in their attacks on her, but she doesn't do much to help herself.

I think the Republicans needs to move farther away from the extreme right to win back the masses.

In a few years, I predict that the sentence above will still be valid, except switch "Republican" for "Democrat" and "right" for "left".

I'll give this to the MSM, their tune has been changing a bit since this health care issue has taken center stage.

The lovefest seemed to end, for some outlets anyway, and they started to get far more critical about Obama and his policies.

I think one of two things is occurring:

1. The MSM is moving away from the extreme left because their business needs dictate it. Pushing one political agenda hasn't exactly worked out too well for them lately.

OR

2. The MSM is left leaning, but not as left leaning as Obama and the folks he's surrounded himself with and the voices you're hearing in the MSM are more moderate and/or conservative Democrats.

Hell, maybe there's a mix of both going on. After all, look at what the Blue Dogs are going through right now.

C'mon Troy, answer up.

I mean, how many people here voted Obama?
It's not me, it's someone else.

I was at lunch...

You know how I voted, anyway.

Plenty of things I disagree with, but i know what the alternative was... and it wasn't moderate conservative republicans (the views of a lot of people on this board) either...

I didn't vote for him, but I didn't think he'd be near stupid enough to pull this much shit this quickly. Everyone makes insane promises to get elected, I expect it.

I'd even like to say it's a problem of having the donkeys in control of the White House & Congress. But that's too easy. Maybe this country's just gotten fucking complacent. I'm going to start waiting for Putin to roll out Iron Curtain 2.0. But that's still an external entity jarring us into action. & that's bullshit, too.

Nah, I'm pretty sure everyone's just forgotten what it's like to be ruled by an aristocracy on a macroscopic level. Best hope is that he implements all these batshit socialist/commie ideas & they get rubberstamped into law ASAP. One of two things will occur ...

(i) The PR/spin machine/brainwashing/whatever works & people really do start believing that less freedom = more freedom. You don't need to worry about consequences, you'll be insulated from everything bad that could possibly ever happen.

(ii) Enough civilians start making enough noise to the point where Congress can't be called to session because the couple hundred thousand or so protesters on the steps won't move. That turning point comes when you can bitch violently at Arlen Specter during a town hall meeting & not get threatened by cops to shut the fuck up, move along, & stop being un-American w\ your opposing viewpoints, damnit.

If the Republicans can't gain significant ground in the next set of Congressional elections, I'm declaring them fucking dead. Either way, I think the only Hail Mary pass left in this game is a legit third party coming into prominence.

I don't think it is that hard for someone with a little understanding of history, and a little imagination, to see that THIS country could be put on a path to have its own iron curtain within 20 years. Peeps in East Germany were trying to escape communism, which is, basically, slavery to the state. Which direction does more and more and more government in this country take us?

As more and more people, rich or otherwise, try to take their money and lives elsewhere where they have more freedom... when does the government shut the out-door?

I voted Bob Barr, and am comfortable in the fact that I made the only reasonable choice in a shitty race.

The single biggest scam the Dems and Reps every cooperated on to consolidate their power is convincing the slobbering masses that voting for a third party is a waste of a vote.

If that were to happen, I predict riot forces and lots of dead civilians, rather than the government backing down and reevaluating their positions.

Got to "maintain control of the situation" at all times, after all.

Happened way more than once, in this country. Every time I can think of ended with dead people.

I'm waiting on the dude that puts in the order to open fire on over six figures worth of U.S. civilians.

Not sure how many thousands were in the Pension Protests, but MacArthur still opened fire.

The self-named Bonus Expeditionary Force was an assemblage of some 43,000 marchers — 17,000 World War I veterans, their families, and affiliated groups, who protested in Washington, D.C., in spring and summer of 1932. Called the Bonus March by the news media, the Bonus Marchers were more popularly known as the Bonus Army.

From wikipedia.

Quadruple that number. & let's also consider the growth in news media over the past seventy years. Granted, that wouldn't've stopped Mac, but it would've fucking destroyed his career, there, period.

BONUS protests. Pensions didn't sound right.

Anyway, also look up all the various rebellions that popped up in the first 100 years of this country's founding.

Then for fun look up things like Ruby Ridge, and Waco.

There is a long and glorious history in this country of feds killing civilians.

Shays' Rebellion? Whiskey Rebellion? Which one?

Picture Ruby Ridge x100 + everyone has Twitter on their fucking cellphones. And cameras. And myspace. Fuck, David Koresh would've'd his own internet petition if he'd just waited a decade or so.

Yes?

Does that mean you're done arguing?

Tienanmen Square could never happen, until it did. I read six month, or so, ago that the federal government had the ability to turn off the internet with a switch.

That shit might fly over in the Middle East, where civilization has passed a few political leaders by over the past millennium or so.

The military response doesn't seem to be quelling the masses, either.
