Not exactly, but it's in the ballpark. The turret only goes up to level 2 and isn't quite as powerful as in TF2. This engie doesn't do teleports and there's no need for ammo distribution. While a TF2 engineer can be effective while focusing entirely on maintaining his turret in the face of the enemy, Torbjorn needs to be a bit more active in the fight using his gun to be equally effective. But the overall flavor of the gameplay is quite similar.

Actually when Torbjorn activates his ult his turrets go to level 3. And the dwarf is probably not as useful while playing on the offensive team in say Assault or Escort games, but when your team is on the defensive and he can create an area to control he is really strong.

That's why you are allowed to and encouraged to change heroes in the middle of the game. As the fight goes on and the circumstances change you may wanna change from an offensive hero to a defensive one.

I really like Torbjorn in escort games. Put a level 2 turret on the payload with Reinhardt to shield it and good backup from the rest of the team and you can steamroll that sucker through a map.

that sounds like a great plan, and would probably work. But in solo Q where everyone is running around as Reaper and trying to 1v6 everyone that's a highly unlikely scenario. Occasionally though you do get a team that works together real well.

Oh man McCree is a new favorite. Longest kill streak by far with him.

And there is a an automatically filling "highlight" thing that has all your best plays.

I'm going to put this here because I think they're related, and the other game doesn't have its own thread...

Battleborn discounted $20 three weeks after launch.

I didn't even know Battleborn was "set in the Borderlands universe". Did anyone else? Hell, it took Stranger explaining to me what Overwatch was before I realized it was TF2, but prettier.

Both of these games seemed to be marketed on flash over substance.

Back to the story, does this mean Battleborn isn't selling or was it a move to counter Overwatch's launch? I would say the first option because the second would seem to be a big "fuck you" to the folks who bought it in the first three weeks.

Yes, infact I make a thread about Battleborn when it was announced maybe a year and a half ago. I was excited for it then because it was supposed to be a mix between League of Legends and Borderlands, my two favorite games. But I think its fell a little short of expectations and the fact that Overwatch got released right after it definitely took away from its sales.

I just don't understand why Battleborn and Overwatch are being compared to each other. Battleborn is clearly targeted for and has MOBA elements to it. The main game mode is just like LOL, 3 lanes, minions, towers, nexus.. Its just a first person shooter in the style of Borderlands done as a MOBA. Overwatch is none of that.

A couple things that I found out today while reading the Overwatch Reddit page:

-While escorting the payload you will be healed while on it. (not sure if you literally have to be on it or can be right next to it)

-Payload will move faster with more people on it, up to a max of 3.

-In the controls menu you can set up keybinds, different crosshairs, toggle setups and a few other things for each specific hero.

-Listen! the audio cues for hero ults and other actions give away a lot of info.

Also found this little bit of info:
If you’re using a pair of stereo headphones, it’s worth going to the audio settings and switching on Dolby Atmos. The game will sound strangely quiet at first, but it ends up being a noticeably better way to play. You can track threats just from their audio cues shockingly well, and Atmos manages to improve the game’s 3D audio past the already impressive default settings. Obviously this won’t work if you're using speakers instead of headphones, but it’s a setting I can’t switch back off.

by the way, I'm not really sure how well the Dolby Atmos thing could actually work. You still only have 2 speakers on your head so anything that tries to mimic anything different I'm sure sounds like shit. Nevertheless i'll give it a shot to see what its like, but it kinda sounds like a gimmick to me.

My headphones deliver 5.0 surround sound. The nicer ones have more than two speakers.

Junkrat wrecks the fuck out of a team trying to escort a payload.

Was reading that Overwatch is actually the best and most functional parts of Blizzard's failed "Titan" sci-fi MMORPG attempt. Only paired down and made actiony and like TF2.

I really wish I could share/post my highlights online somewhere.

I've played a few games over the weekend where teams had stacked some of the same heroes and that shit was OP!

Two games were in the Temple of Anubis and both times I was on the attacking team. One team ran what I think was 4 Bastions and 2 Torbjorn. They all parked on top of the high point that overlooks the passageway your team needs to get thru to get into the rest of the temple. Every time someone poked their head into the corridor you were eliminated immediately. Looking back we prolly all shoulda went with 6 Reinhardt's and just put the shields up and walk in but that's hard to pull off when you're in solo que.

the other game was the same map but this time they had 6 Roadhog's. You couldn't get close without a hook pulling you in and shotguns blowing you up right afterwards. I suggested we all go Phara and just reign down rockets on them from a greater distance, but of course no one listened. I also think that 6 Junkrat's could do the same just by lobbing tons of grenades in there, but I think Junkrat is the answer for just about any problems I have in the game. Someone suggested after the game that we run the same strategy against them since the game runs it back and you switch sides after the match, but too many people bailed on the game and it never happened.

Last game was a control map, Ilios I think? and we all went with 6 Winstons. We were a roaming pack of gorillas that would all jump into the control zone at once, drop 6 domed shields and zap everyone to death. It only got funnier when we could stack ults and then 6 angry gorillas were knocking anyone that got close right off the map.

The stacking strategy seems like cheese but I have only seen it happen in those 3 games, and there is always a counter to every strategy which is cool. I'm pretty sure that 6 Reapers would have destroyed the 6 Winstons.

Junkrat 4 prez

Anytime someone on my team has even doubled up a hero in the selection screen someone yells at them about the build sucking. Which seems dumb-as-hell because the game just came out and nobody knows team balance at all.

Why not YouTube? That's where I've posted mine. Just the one so far, though.

My latest favorite character is Mei. I love putting up walls all over the damn place. So fun.

Mei seems really good if coordinated right, Freeze a bunch of dudes and have a DPS character like McCree or the Punisher guy whack em.

How did you find he highlight file to upload? It's available during my session but then promptly disappears.

I used streaming/screen cap software and just recorded watching it in the game client. Seemed like the simplest solution.

Blizzard said they are working on getting an in client system so that you can save and export your highlight plays. Currently I believe it only saves your last five games until you log off then they are gone. This will be a cool feature because I've had some plays that I'd like to post, trying to describe them is pointless you've gotta be able to see it.

My latest fav have been Roadhog. I love hooking and blowing up peeps, drink some juice and get back in the fight. Mei is annoying as shit to play against, she is such a troll pick that just gets under the skin of the opponent.

Troy what is your Blizzard battletag? TPR and I are friends and have played co-op once. Maybe if some night we all are in game at the same time we can group up. My tag is MadMordigan#1329

Ah hah! Okay, I knew I knew you but didn't know exactly how I knew you. Now it all comes together. :)

I've got a group I play with somewhat regularly that usually gets a full team of six going, it might be fun to put together two full teams sometime in a custom game for some head-to-head fun.
