They're such a huge part of what's wrong with the gaming industry, and they don't even realize it.

They revel in their inferior graphics, "one controller fits all", limited choices, pay to play online services, and higher prices.

We should start a church of the PC, and spread the word about the glory that can be found in PC gaming. Steam sales, no paying to play online, the biggest games on the planet and they're FREE, any controller you want, mods, etc.
Operating system updates. Incompatible hardware. Shifting graphics standards. Fragmented online gaming community. More expensive hardware. Hardware that's usually pretty fucking ugly.

(just counterpointing)

I never said there weren't pros for console developers, nor did I even complete the list of cons.

Note I said developers because most of your points are an issue for them, not the actual gamer. And oddly enough, folks who develop for PCs seem to be doing fine. More titles hit for PC than consoles. Weird...

OS Updates? When's the last time you used a console? It can't be lately because almost every time you turn them on there's updating to be done. Hell, I put GTA V in my X-Box the other day (before I decided to wait for the PC version), and it had to DL 7GB worth of stuff before I could think about playing.

Incompatible hardware. When it happens, it's a fair point, but definitely more of a developer problem than a gamer problem.

Shifting graphics standards. This is a reach. Constantly improving technology versus technology that was outdated by several years during console design phase? No contest.

Fragmented online gaming community. I don't get this one. Because everyone who owns a console plays the same game?

More expensive hardware. The most popular game in the world can be played on a computer that costs the same as a console. On a PC I can adjust my graphics settings.

I won't even address that final point. It's ridiculous.

It's pretty fucking ugly. Try getting it near a TV in most households.

Yay! One PC that can go near a TV, and oh wait, costs over $1,000.

Well, I guess it'd be more accurate to say "doesn't exist" since those are just beta units / renderings.

You can put a computer next to a TV all you want.

Unless you live with a woman. But to be fair, they want to hide the TV too.

And honestly, even if you must hide the PC for strictly aesthetic reasons (because those outweigh shittier hardware, higher prices, pay to play online, not actually owning your games, etc.) it really isn't difficult.

Ha!
I think I moved my PC into the living room within a week of my ex moving out.

I'm still playing GTAV daily on the XBox 360.
I'm rich in the game because I do a lot of missions and I rarely buy things.
Most people buy fancy cars, then fix them up, then sell them (getting only half of their money back) to buy more cars, which they fix up and then sell.
I don't care about cars.

Thinking of rearranging the living room to fit the desktop in there. Will require some serious Tetris skills.

Coming to Steam.

And it'll be a million times better than the console versions. More content. Better looking. Cheaper.

Delayed to February 1st, and available for pre-order on Steam for $59.99.

Really, $60?

For a game that's over a year old? Yes, I'm aware they added a ton of new stuff, and the graphics will clearly be superior on the PC. (Plus, all the mods.)

Am I paying for the shipping? How about the packaging materials?

Hasn't Steam broken the gaming industry's pricing model? Don't successful F2P games like LoL, DOTA2, WoT, MW:O, etc. prove the same?

Why are we being asked to pay the same price that console players paid a year ago, yet it costs them nothing to package and ship to us?

I just went to the Steam GTA V Community Hub to take a stand and post about how people need to skip buying this game at launch.

I was VERY late to the party.

Almost every thread is people bitching about the price.

Good for us PC gamers!

I'd buy the game right now at $40 to reward them for their hard work, like Borderlands, but they can go suck a fat one if they think I'm paying console prices.

The BL2, BL:PS, and WL2 are the only games I've bought right out of the gate in almost forever that cost more than $20.

I bought the game for $60 this weekend.

The group I usually game with is all in so I joined them. And I don't regret it. Of all the games I've paid that sort of price for, this one has been most worth the money.

Haven't touched single player at all yet, only playing GTA Online so far.

So, aside from a custom case that won't cause your woman to throw it out on the street ... ?

EDIT: Holy shit. I realized that was from last April.

TPR's post has me torn. It's a game I know I want and will buy, but on principle I have to wait until that price tag drops.

I refuse to pay full retail CONSOLE price for a digital download on a PC.
