I was contemplating and curious, so I googled a few things:

First African slave to come to N. America: August 25, 1619, on a Dutch ship that had stolen them from a Spanish ship. (But europeans had slaves on the continent as much as a century before).

Perpetrator: European.

When did the most African slave come to the USA? Between 1720 and 1780.

Perpetrators: Mostly Europeans. They were the ones picking them up, the colonists were buying them but their part of the Triangular Trade was shipping out molassass, or something.

Last African slave ship to arrive in USA: 1860. I couldn't see a country of registry.

Perpetrator: Americans mostly.

++++++

Point being, that's a talking point europeans sure like to use to show how bad the USA is, when they actually made the slavery trade more efficient long before the USA was established.

And let's not even start on who in Africa was selling slaves to European slavers.

Africans were selling slaves to other Africans and into the Middle East hundreds of years before a single cracker set foot on the continent.
