Walking Zombie: Shooter

Post by Leisher »

I got this for 50 cents or a dollar during the last Steam sale based on my enjoyment of the free sequel.

This is a stationary FPS with the same blocky graphics as the sequel.

The opening scene is low key perfect in setting up why it's a stationary FPS. After that, there's no real explanation for why, just survive waves and move through levels. 200 levels in total.

The levels are usually just 1-4 waves of baddies and it can be just a couple to a small hoard. There are also some variety with arena levels and sniper levels. The arenas are just melee and you killing as many baddies as possible before you die. The sniper levels have you protecting a baby. Oh, and there are boss levels. None of them are very tough though. In fact, they're usually "tough" until you eliminate their support and get them in close to you. Then it's just a matter of lowering their health bar.

Weapons come in a few varieties and you upgrade as you go. Coincidentally, enemies upgrade as well.

The game overall is basic and easy to beat. It's short and only took me a couple of evenings. However, it has some charm. It definitely won't be for everyone, but the guy who made this and its sequel put some good work in on both. I think it was worth the $1.
