Most overrated bands.

I always say "Greenday" because I can't stand the "snot in the back of his throat" singer.

But I realized recently I've always hate The Who. I don't get the appeal. I've never heard anything aside what has been on the radio*, but pinball wizard? It's a dumb topic for a song and musically not even that interesting.

* big asterisk: I saw that fucking "Tommy" movie as a young teen. I've never forgotten how badly the song "fiddling about-whatever" skeeved me out. I grant that it may have soured me on the band as a whole.

But I just don't think they deserve the fame and success they got, since a lot of people give them "top 10 of all time" status. Their sauce is weak.

I have no issue with either of those picks.

I like both bands. "A quick one, while he's away" is one of my favorite songs.

Coldplay.

I have a bias against Greenday because their leader is such an entitled douche. Although, I do have a soft spot for one of their songs as it reminds me of a fun make out session I had with two girls in the AF.

I also accept Coldplay's nomination, but Viva la Vida is a genuinely excellent song.

Coldplay has 3 solid songs, I think. But felt like everyone considered them the next coming of Jesus for a while.

Viva la Vida, Clocks, and...?

Back to the topic, was all 80s hair metal overrated? Take away the hits, and wasn't it all concentrated shit?

Matched in excellence only by 80s pop music.

There was good, bad, and mid..... but it was going next level when Nirvana and Pearl Jam killed it. Warrant put out an amazing album in 1991, for example, as did Def Leppard. No one ever heard them because of "Well EEEEEEEEEEEevooonnn hemmaladda doorway mempalotta erryhthanggg. UuuuHHHH!"

Is that Eddie Veder? I enjoy Pearl Jam, but fuck does his mumbling get annoying.

Yellow Ledbetter was rumored for a LONG time to have no real lyrics. Officially, no lyrics were ever given. Stories from the band said they came up with the tune, but Eddie would just mumble and make up lyrics at different shows.

However, these are supposed to be the actual lyrics and have to do with a friend of theirs who got a yellow letter informing them their brother had died in the Gulf War or something.
Unsealed, on a porch a letter sat
Then you said, "I wanna leave it again"
Once I saw her on a beach of weathered sand
And on the sand I wanna leave her again
On a weekend I wanna wish it all away, yeah
And they called and I said that I'll go
And I said that I'll call out again
And the reason I ought ta leave her calm, I know
I said, "I don't know whether I'm the boxer or the bag"
Oh yeah, can you see them, out on the porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way, yeah
And I know, and I know I don't wanna stay
Make me cry
I see oh, I don't know why there's something else
I want to, wanna drum it all away
I said, "I don't, I don't know whether I was the boxer or the bag"
Oh yeah, can you see them, out the on porch?
Yeah, but they don't wave
I see them 'round the front way
And I know, and I know I don't want to stay at all
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't want to stay
I don't, I don't want to stay
