Shadow of a Doubt 1943

As long as we recognize Lucas is washed up and most TV sucks, we'll all get along fine.

Shadow of a Doubt 1943

Post by TheCatt »

Uncle Charlie appears to be under surveillance by the police, and decides to beat the heat by moving out from NYC to California to visit his sister and their family. Is Uncle Charlie the murderer? Or is it this other guy they're looking into somewhere else?

This was Hitchcock's favorite of his own films, reportedly. It's certainly less stylistic than his later work, being one of the first films he made after moving to America. I'd never seen it before. The plot was good, the story, directing, etc all very good. It's interesting how things have changed. The climax of the film... well, it would have been shot differently today. A lot of movies from the 40s through the 70s, the action is just quite fake. :)

Overall, a solid enjoyable film if you like his stuff.
It's not me, it's someone else.
