And in free healthcare systems they probably killed the son. :D

There really has to be a happy medium out there where people don't go bankrupt getting well, but where "the best and brightest" still aspire to be doctors because there's good money in it.

I know a plastic surgeon who's fucking loaded.

Maybe that's where the money is, elective shit on rich people.

Id do 90% elective shit, and then 10% pro bono cleft pallettes and breast cancer cases to make myself feel better about being loaded.

I want to enjoy that tweet, but they immediately lose credibility with their name.

That is only half true.

A doctor will know what tests he wants to order, but will check with the patient's insurance provider, which probably also owns that hospital and signs the doctor's checks, to see which tests they are willing to pay for.

Then the doctor will pass on what the health insurance company's algorithm told them to say.

Because for some reason it's important that we have this 3rd party between us and our health care.

No. The doctor will just order the tests, he doesn't have time to check with the insurance provider, and the patient gets stuck with a massive bill for uncovered tests.

I know 3 people who have it the way I said.

I don't know which of our universes are better.

Again, good thing we have that middleman running our health care.

I think my favorite thing about healthcare is how you pay thousands of dollars for your premiums, then thousands of dollars to reach your deductible, and then you pay thousands of dollars more anyway.
