This is a show about Pike and the Enterprise, pre-kirk.

This crew showed up in Star Trek: Discovery for half a season.... and they were by far the best part of that show. Their presence was the only thing that could make any part of Discovery be called "awesome." This show will probably also be awesome. And I wonder how much pressure they got to make Pike not a straight white guy.

Starts in May. Here's a trailer.

THIS IS THE FUCKING SHOW STAR TREK FANS HAVE WANTED.

Only one episode so far, but it's exactly what Trek was always about. Not focused on feelings, and shoehorned in diversity and sexuality (looking at you, Discovery). The crew is diverse, but they don't make a big fucking deal about it. Peeps feel ways about things, but it doesn't stop them from being competent and confident.

And it feels weird to have a straight white guy as not only part of the main crew, but the captain. It's good that white people are getting exposure like that, finally. And I'm not being sarcastic.

This is the show that can run 7 seasons.

I don't even know the sexuality and pronouns of more than 2 bridge crew, yet..... and that's because those two male players woke up with women at one point. That's nice. I don't think there's more than one hetero person on the entire Discovery set.... and they don't let you forget it, every episode.

".... until our last moment, life is meant to be worn gloriously." is one of my new fave lines.

First season is done. This is your grandfather's Star Trek. It is outstanding and the best Trek since...... TOS, maybe?

Looking forward to S2.

Spoilers regarding the visiting officer in E10:
I had my doubts, but I think they captured Kirk. He was confident, but not arrogant. He knew how to play part of a team, even when he knew he had the better plan. Tactically brilliant. Able to chastise with tact, without damaging relationships. Yeah, he's no Shatner but I think they wrote him well.

Season 2 starts next month. I'l say it again, it's the best new trek since TNG.

And you know how I say the animated show, Lower decks, is surprisingly awesome?

Well they're doing a crossover. Animated characters will be in SNW. That's the black woman with the hair, and the guy in the end in the transporter being awkward.

Episode 1 of season 1 felt like a real Star Trek episode

They seem to be really pushing the envelope on this show. Also, I'm betting Seth wishes he had done this first.

Knowing Seth's love for song, it does seem odd he didn;t.

Short Treks aren't really SNW, they are there own thing, but here are some that are coming out in the animation style of The Animated Series.

Another one I saw was the SNW crew.

Pretty sure that was Frakes's voice, which makes it canon.
