Got Paramount+ though a Slickdeals scheme to get Sportsline and Paramount+ for 18 months for $.56. I thought I'd give something a try and picked 1883.

I'm 4 or 5 episodes in now and liking it quite a bit. It's about people heading to Oregon from Texas. And the typical, "you drowned in a river" "you died of dysentery" type shit is happening. Very gritty, hard, and stuff. I find shows like this interesting (I also liked Hell On Wheels from AMC), and this is pretty well done. It has real life characters in it, but not sure how historically accurate it is. It's accurate as far as the perils of cross country travel was back then, I think. I wasn't there. Only read about it in books.

If you end up with Paramount+ somehow, I would recommend checking it out.
