I accidentally pick-pocketed the first NPC, he killed me.

The first town I went into, I entered a random building, I didn't see anyone around so I started stealing stuff. Turns out they were downstairs and came up to fight me. I killed them, but one's an NPC who keep regenerating.

I went to another town, and helped killed a giant. While conversing with an NPC, a town guard shows up and kills me.

Respawn, go back to the new town, NPC guard kills me.

I googled bounty, and apparently I'm supposed to get put in jail or pay a fee, but this fucker just keeps killing me.

Apparently my impulse to just kill and steal is bad. In BorderLands, you can just take anything, and you can't kill many characters. Stupid open world.

In Scrolls 4 I kept picking up missions that had nothing to do with my.... class, or whatever. Got frustrated and quit.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing really. My missions are all over the place "Join the dawn guard, join the imperial force, join the brotherhood, join the assassins, join the thieves" -> Am i supposed to join them all?

The weapons mechanics (long and short range) would be nice if I could assign hotkeys, I do not see that available yet. I've had a few bugs with people following, and a mission that seemed like there was a next step "person said go to X and kill things," but then it didnt show up in my mission log.

The game got a lot easier once I stopped killing everyone.

I avoid the Elder Scrolls series in general because of the massive time sink.

I didn't realize how much of BL was on rails, relative to Skyrim. I have no idea if someone is good or evil until they either attack me, or they don't. I can see their hitpoint bar, but I have no idea what level they are. Some enemies just stomp me, and I stomp some other ones. Other than "giants are dumb to fight" because of that comic on the front page, no idea how I'm supposed to know this.

1) I figured out hotkeys.
2) Turns out the guard was killing me because I was in a mission where I was killing something, and my weapon was drawn. Once I withdraw my weapon, he just arrested me and made me pay a fine.
3) The level thing is still getting me. I clearly went somewhere I should not have, because I was suddenly getting one-shotted. I googled the enemy, and it appears to be a level 30+ enemy, but I'm level 12. So I went back to easier missions, which I have no problem finishing.

This game got much, much easier when I figured out the following:
1) There are 3 movement speeds, not 2. The one I was missing was sprint.
2) Two-handed weapons have a power move (maybe all weapons do?), which makes them much, much more effective.
3) Your NPC companion person can follow you, and never dies. I thought if she came with me, she'd die.

Your NPC companions can die, but only if you hit them when they're down. Don't do that and you'll be fine.

I'm not good at avoiding friendly fire, but I try.

Need to get back to this game and finish it.

So I legit started this last night. Any words of advice?

The only thing I've done so far is:
-Picked the Imperials
-Picked Warrior stone
-Made it to the little village on the river.
-Killed all the bandits for the golden claw.

I'm again standing in the village and being told to head north.

Its been a while since I've played it, but my bit of advice.. Don't get turned into a vampire!

This happened to me pretty early in the game while just wondering around at night. Crossed a vamp, I don't believe I killed him and I ran away but he bit me first and I turned into a vampire. I thought it might be pretty cool at first and kept playing that way for a bit. Turned out it was a huge pain in the ass to play that way and even harder to do the quest to stop being a vampire.

I'm not worried about becoming a vampire right now, but the guys I'm hanging out with are werewolves. I also was bitten by a sabertooth and contracted something, but lost it almost immediately when I ran into some wizards.

The thing that really concerns me is how I'm getting my ass kicked every time I leave town. Everything is so close together that I will win one fight and stumble into another a minute later. The best death was getting swatted into the sky by a giant.

Building my character is all over the map. I'm doing my normal tank, but I'm considering starting over and going the thief route. Lockpicking is way too valuable and sneaking seems to be a big deal too.
