I wanted to get this out there before the latest Steam sale is over.

This game is a gem.

Great graphics, fun game play, loads to do, and somehow makes re-playability something you want to do...I'm in my 58th run...

This is essentially a rogue-like game in space. Maybe think FTL, but mixed with Privateer or the X-Wing series? You are Adam Rosin and you're trying to make it to sector 7. Why? That story gets revealed bit by bit as you progress. Along the way you're going to meet several different people with different reasons for interacting with you. All are interesting, but the story itself is even more interesting.

There are four ships with tons of mods, weapons, missiles, consumables, etc. that you can find to customize the game to be played in your preferred style.

I believe, but cannot confirm, that the game's levels evolve as you advance in runs. There were new landmarks and space hazards I was encountering during my runs in the 40s that I did not see prior? Not sure. I do know that I have beaten the story, yet I'm still playing.

I just checked the price and it's $30. There is also a sequel out now. Being as cautious about game pricing as I have become, I don't know that I'd recommend it at that price, BUT the sequel is $31 and I'm seriously considering grabbing it at that price because Everspace is so much fun. (I think I got it in a Humble Bundle or something.) It's not the money that is ever an obstacle, but whether or not I think a game should be priced at $_____. So, I'd say $10-15 is the range where you will feel awesome about this purchase. However, if $30 isn't an obstacle, grab it. The love that went into this one is worth it.

I should move to Argentina. It's been down to $0.50 there.

In USD, it's gone down to $5 for the base game.

65th run and I'm in a gunship. I'm lighting everything up.

Then I jump to the next zone. Holy shit. A brutal battle set in a nightmare landscape. 65th fucking run and this is the first time I've encountered this new hell.

I've beaten the game. 20 or so runs ago, but I can't stop playing.

This game is awesome.

During my 70th run I streamed and picked up a new follower/viewer.

I finally got the true ending and during the ensuing boss fight accidentally opened the Steam overlay instead of pausing to repair my ship and died. I had one fucking missile to fire and win...

ARGH!

On sale now for $4.49

The DLC is not on sale, is it worth it?

I don't know for certain because my version had it all installed, so I didn't know what was original and what was DLC. I do know the DLC adds multiple other ships you encounter who will give you tasks. Those tasks can involve going off your primary mission. Some are worth it, some aren't. I think only one had no ending to their storyline. A couple will also fight with you so that might be worth it alone.

I see the Ultimate Edition is on sale for $18. I definitely got far more than $18 of value out of that game.

There are 2 DLCs included in that, one of them looks worthless (soundtrack, etc). So it's $14.50 with the Expansion.

From my experience with the game, that would be a very acceptable price.

$5 for the basic game. $8 for the ultimate right now.

I bought it... made it to stage 3 and got immediately wrecked.

I've never enjoyed a "roguelike" as much as that one. Great game.

I ended up with this at some point. Gave it a try tonight.

It's ok. . . definitely an arcade game, as apposed to a flight sim.

My first couple trips out and I'm like, this is really bad. Hard to aim, etc, etc. But, I picked it up very quickly. Got better when I remembered to use my weapon and shield overloads. Also my aim just got better as I learned the AI flight patterns. The ship is very easy to fly and maneuver. Especially when you remember it's an arcade, not a sim.

Played it for a couple of hours. Spending my money on upgrades, etc. When I decided to be done, that's when it hit me. You upgrade very slowly. The only reason I'm getting further in the story is because I'm just getting better at flying/fighting. My ship isn't that much better. And there's 4 ships? Soooo much grinding to upgrade them all. Do I need/want to? Do upgrades follow you from ship to ship? I'm guessing not.

It's not a bad game. . . but right now, I feel like there's a long grind ahead.

This isn't the game you and i played quite a few years back is it?? i think it was something else because that game was definitely more of a sim game, just docking the ship was rough.

No, that was Evocron Mercenary, or something like that. This is very different. Liesher's comparison to FTL and Privateer is pretty accurate. The rogue like experience with picking the jump points is exactly the same. The flying/combat is very much Wing Commander.

I'm not writing the game off yet. But I do fear the grind will wear me down.

I play a lot of games. Beat a good number of them. Don't always remember them.

That one I remember. The gameplay was so damn good that the grind never bothered me.

Get good.

I don't believe I ended up with all the ships. I might have technically had them, but once you get the gunship or whatever, you're running with endgame content.
