A 3 person mission bound for Mars and funded by Hyperion, a corporate entity, has a 4th person on board unbeknownst to any of them, including that 4th person. This is a huge problem for a space vehicle designed for two people, that has been revamped to fit the third.
If you're reading this here your first question is going to be if the science is good. Actually, your first question will be about Anna Kendrick, but let's focus on the science. It's there, but it's not completely awesome. You really have to believe that a space agency put together a mission without the appropriate backup parts. A tough sell if you know anything about NASA.
Anyway, Kendrick is in it and she's awesome. It's honestly her story in a film with four people total.
The story itself is a bit slow and kind of boring, but fine. They spend most of the time just trying to develop tension, but since so few events take place...it drags.
Consider this to be in the same genre as Gravity, but nowhere near as good or as visually stunning.
