Went ahead and ordered one, I don't know whether to blame Roku or HBO, but I'm tired of paying for the HBO app and not being able to use Max.

Ordered the ethernet adapter as well, because I didn't wire my house just to use stuff on wifi.

Got 10% off for being a Google One customer.

Adapter will be delivered next week.
Chromecast device will possibly be delivered right before christmas.

Christ.

Whoa. I ordered mine first day and it arrived in a couple of days.

Google Store says Nov 10-12 online right now.

Bestbuy says next day delivery: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/chromecast ... lsrc=aw.ds

20 bones. Gives you a new power plug with an ethernet port.

Changed the color, the white one estimated delivery by Halloween.

Same. I like faster, shielded wiring over airwaves that will be disrupted by the microwave oven.

5GHz isn't impacted by the microwave oven.

Also seems to have way shorter range.... or is affected by walls more.

Yes, more throughput, less range. #physics.

"Chromecast with Google TV" plugged in and operational.

So far it's fine. Was a little annoying when during setup I selected the apps I wanted, and then it added more anyway in order to entice me, or something. I had to delete those manually so they wouldn't pollute my TV/Movie options. (Select a movie, then it says OH OK GO AHEAD AND SIGN UP FOR HULU THEN)

I DO like that the little remote was simple and self-learning how to operate my A/V receiver and TV. I now have a single remote for stuff for the first time in years. (Never bothered reprogramming the Harmony One with the Roku... just lazy)

Also I like that I can actually use HBO Max, now. I feel like writing Roku a letter letting them know why they lost a user.

Yes. Our TV was similar, but the Chromecast setup was still simpler.

I always feel like this, but 80% of feedback feels like writing into a void.

I spent about 90 seconds looking for an email address. I have no desire to put them on blast in the community forums, which would probably be moderated away, anyway. Just wanted to give them a little honest feedback.

Couldn't find an email address. Oh well. No free data point for them.

Is it possible YTTV has a higher video quality on this, over the Roku? I'm trying to decide if Fifth Element on BBCA looks crisper than what I'm used to.

Only have a 1080 TV, here.

I don't know. The Chromecast can definitely do 4k, but YTTV can only do 1080, iirc. It's possible the app was set to a lower resolution though on the other device.

when i hit the power button to turn off the TV... will it automatically set the chromecast to "Home" so it isn't constantly streaming data while the TV is off?

So what app do you use to stream video/audio from cell phone, to your chromecast? Still haven't become proficient at that.

I just got "aPower-something" working, but it seems to be only video, not audio.
