Bill Heder is a hitman who decides he wants to be an actor, incstead.

I stopped watching at episode 2 when someone got tortured with a metal file to their teeth.... too fucking graphic. But I started up again, and S1E4 has the most realistic conversation between Marine veterans I have ever seen.

"Look at your fucking kid, he looks just fucking like you, that's fucking crazy."
"I fucking know... it's fucking wild. Fucking kids, right?"
"Fucking kids."
...
"So fuckin look at you, man. Your fuckin fuck shirt. Are you gonna be a fuckin actor, man?"
"I'm gonna fuckin try. It's harder than it fuckin looks."
"Right on. Fuck." *clinks beers*

It is crazy since so many Marines have children who look very different ;)

And right after two other Marines start wrestling in the living room of the grown-up party.

They had a Marine veteran adviser on-hand, I guarantee it.

You don't have to use euphemisms here

Can't deny, a lot of man-man wrestling looks pretty gay, in the Marines. By today's standards. Not by historical warrior standards.

Especially the ones they filmed in San Diego...

I knew you'd say that. 30 years later, it still has legs.

It's never not going to be funny. The foremost groups of man's men doesn't get to have a gay porn scandal and then have it forgotten.

I don't think they'd appreciate the implication that "manly" men can't be homosexual.

They can, but there are more Nathan Lanes and Andy Dicks than Rock Hudsons.

Season 3 is done and out there. You'd be excused for thinking it's the series finale, but S4 is in production.

Rumor has it that covid shutdown gave Bill Heder license to rewrite the entire season before shooting, and he said it gave him space to improve the show. I'd agree, that was an outstanding season.

The show is done and aired, S5 was cancelled. The show is very much done at the end of season 4.

Heder made a HELL of an indictment of the relationship between regular people, and what hollywood feeds them.

I have always heard good things about this show. Perhaps I'll run through it when I'm recovering.
