What's the story on alts in this thing? Do we only get one dude per server or whatever?

There aren't really such things as dedicated crafters, per say.
To build stuff that people want to buy, you need Blueprints, you can get those either at the Compounds, or the Research Missions, either way they are really hard to get.
If you have some good industry skill, you can craft both faster and more efficiently, but we would need BPC for the corporation first.

You can have alternates. Each account holds 3 characters. However, you can only train one skill on one character at a time. So, if you create a second character and start training him, all training on your first comes to a halt as you are training the second.
And, we need a crafter cause I don't want to stop my combat training to learn crafting stuff right now. I want someone else to do that.
Someone's wife needs to step up. Mine ALWAYS does, so I think it's someone else's turn.

I'm a crafter at heart, and once I've got some basic fighting skills going I'm sure I'll switch over to crafting. It'll be awhile, though.

Spent some time going over the research/applied research system today. Bleh. It looks painful. & that's after you've trained a skill or two to 5.
