I have an odd endorsement to make.

Don't like Kettle chips, unless I'm in the mood to cut up the inside of my mouth.

Ripple chips are good in a sour-cream-dipping situation.

I like thin potato chips, salted. Sea salt, when I can get it. The tiny bags of Lays Sea Salt chips cost like $4+, but they're slightly thicker than regular Lays thin chips, and therefore you get less crushage in the bag. But as I said, $4 for a tiny bag.

Well tonight I was killing time in a WalMart, and saw a party-sized bag of "Sam's Choice" thin chips for less than $2. Three times as much chips, for half the price of what I'm accustomed to paying. "Fuck it," I thought. I can experiment for $2.

Opened the bag at home and had a few chips... A+ on taste, I don't think I'd know the difference from a brand name, if blind folded. A+ on presentation... these were large, unbroken chips (at least on top of the bag).

I'm surprised. I don't typically like store brands, especially WalMart brands. You have to assume it's lowest-bidder-quality. But the chips were outstanding.

Thin chips are gross. Lays are like the Cleveland Browns of potato chips.

Update:

In the original review, I mentioned the chips at the top of the "Great Value Thin Chips" bag were large and unbroken.

That soon changed by mid-bag, and by the last 25%, the chips were pulverized. I sort of hate that.

Good flavor, half the cost of the name brand, but chip granules.

Speaking of which, are you remodeling the Walmart in Oregon? They just ripped out all the self check-outs, and three more regular lanes.

I hate self check-out.

I am not. But registers are often done outside of a remodel.

Walmart LOVES outsourcing it's labor to it's customers. They might be building a pickup area in there too. Where you order your shit and then go in and pick it up. If you don't mind Walmart employees doing your shopping.

They just put in those self check-outs about a year ago. Seemed strange they'd be redoing it already.

Like Kroger's Pickup and Go (or whatever)? The Kroger employees sometimes goof or they'll grab shitty produce.

I doubt that's a "goof."

I always assume you'd be getting the dented cans and shit.

We've used the grocery store shopping service for a while. They are really good, will even pick through multiple containers of stuff to make you a custom one that's not rotten, etc. At least, at our grocery store.

Often times they'll throw in free stuff. Or upgrades for free if what you want is sold out.

Kroger does this too.

It's not malicious or shady. They're just grabbing whatever. It's about being in a rush to get the stuff.

You can specify stuff with our Kroger:
"Milk that doesn't expire for at least 10 days"
"Bananas, medium ripeness"
etc.

Our Korger also does free upgrades. Wife got free flowers once too.

Not sure if Walmart walks your stuff out to you. But inside, they have some. . . . tower they install. No idea how it works or what it does.
