Don't sleep on this story, it's pretty huge. This guy was an American citizen and we have a wild card in the Oval Office.
The guy in charge of Saudi Arabia is a mixed bag. He's making all sorts of reforms further the rights of women and scaling back the influence of Islam, but he's also cracking down on dissenters. Meanwhile, this journalist was apparently (based upon my light research from these articles) against the reforms.
I know murdering a member of the media to silence them is absolutely wrong, but it's weird that the guy who ordered the hit is making such huge social strides in his country. In this instance, the roles are correct, but the motives are oddly reversed.

Just throwing this out there, the guy in charge isn't always the one calling every single shot.

Agreed, and that's probably what we'll hear no matter if he actually did or not.
Make sure you do a sweep of your embassy in Turkey. I'm not seeing anywhere how tied in this journalist was to the Muslim Brotherhood. Not saying he deserved to be killed and dismembered for that, but it's getting hard for me to find the good guy in this story. Kind of like a mob hit.
"It wasn't like there was a question in his mind. The denial was very strong," Trump told reporters outside the White House, adding that the King "firmly denied any knowledge" of what happened to Khashoggi, a Washington Post journalist and Saudi dissident.
The President said he spoke with Salman on the phone Monday, and said that after the call, he believed "rogue killers" may have killed Khashoggi, suggesting that was a possible explanation Salman offered up during their conversation.
Trump's Saudi decision could prompt Congress to rein in his foreign policy
"It sounded to me like maybe these could have been rogue killers, who knows. We are going to try to get to the bottom of it very soon," Trump said. "But his was a flat denial."
The President said he was simply relaying the Saudi king's denial and vowed that "we will check it all out."

Seems like he made it a point to not say he believed it.
Essentially, the claim here is conservatives are trying to smear the guy to support Trump's lack of action towards Saudi Arabia.
Nobody is a saint, but a vocal dissident shouldn't be murdered by his government.
I'm torn on Trump's action though. He's made threats without following up and is giving the Saudis time to investigate and mount a defense. So exactly what happens here in a court of law. However, it's not being done with that in mind. It's being done in the name of money and that sucks.
5 high ranking Saudis have been removed and 18 Saudis detained. Looks like they're going to be the scapegoats. Unless one of them turns whistleblower or someone hacks emails or something, there will be no evidence tying it to MBS.
