Secret power structure at Valve.

I don't know what's less shocking:
-That a secret structure of power developed.
-That a workplace without leaders generated leaders.

Valve rarely missteps, but a workplace without management is probably the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Limit management, yes, but you still need people to guide your team.

Until someone shows me Half-Life 2: Episode 3, I'm right.

Every organization needs someone to count the beans, and the sort of people that will count beans for a living need someone to tell them to count the beans. You can't just throw all that away and expect to go on without having your beans counted.

Never let them be in charge, there I absolutely agree, but don't just try to go without as it just doesn't work.

If their shit's actually run like this, it's only a matter of time before they fuck up royal.

Eh, they've got such a good thing going with Steam that they can fuck up a lot and still keep going.

The game making might turn into a mess, though.

Losing positive rep doesn't take a lot. Not having real competition also helps.

That's the point I was getting at right there.

I think they've lost their way in the game making department.

They're too focused on DOTA2, which is still a distant second to LoL.

Best thing going in their favor is that their customers are locked in. You own Steam games that you play, then you are going to keep using Steam. It's not like you can leave Steam and take all your games with you.

Guess who's developing games again?

That link not only announces that, but explains what they've been doing for the past decade. Hint: Fighting for you! (Ok, really both you and themselves, but the net result would be to keep the freedom of PCs from becoming an enclosed system like Apple's.)

No HL announcement, but here's hoping they can at least knock out HL2:EP3... Maybe give us Portal 3? More Cave Johnson?

Speaking of their new games, Artifact.

I have zero interest in this, but Stranger might.

What does interest me is the game is designed to drive the industry away from P2W...
