Flying, and the TSA

Catt, when you get home and settled I want to have a conversation about how if your plane ticket says FIRST NAME, MI, LAST NAME and your ID says FIRST, MIDDLE, LAST NAME, how they won't let you fly because the names don't match.

Then add the TSA pre-check into the mix.

I'm sort of paranoid since I haven't flown in so long and don't know if the stories are true.

My tickets usuly say crap like

FISRTMIDDL LAST

Or

FIRSTMIDDLE LAST

But rarely ever say

FIRST MIDDLE LAST

But it's never been an issue

SOmeone told me it was an issue if your ticket is your middle initial, and your ID is your middle name.

Never been an issue for me. Even in weird countries where they add your First and Middle name together. As long as the information is correct...

Not even through TSA precheck?

Yeah. I've asked, in my experience, they don't care

Well that's one less thing to worry about.

I just want to say that TSA precheck has been wonderful lately, especially the other day when we were flying with the kids.

Nope.

One family member is in, everyone is in when flying together! (Actual results my vary) This does not apply to Global Entry, though. There you have to do it by person.

I did not know that! I will have to tell my travel agent.

Well, sadly, the official answer is kids 12 and under with a parent who is precheck, but they included my wife when we all flew together.

Slow fucking week in the travel lane. I thought there'd be extra traffic from holiday Monday. Exact opposite. No one in line at the TSA line this morning. Fastest time through security ever. Literally, no one. I gave them my boarding pass, then my bags, and was out.

TSA, no line again on the way home.

But, my flight was oversold. They offered me and $800 Amazon gift card and I took it. Flying home tomorrow

Right? I mean... I love my time... but $800 instead of a flight that would have gotten me home after midnight?

The only mistake I made is that I don't travel with toiletries when going to the Boston office (I have a set there to minimize crap in my bag). You can get a toothbrush at the hotel desk, but not contact solution. So I had to throw my contacts out (I have monthlies, so nbd), and wear glasses today.

Yeah we all knew you had monthlies.
