New season June 2.

Gonna need to rewatch. No memory of most of it.

I quit watching it waiting for this season to come out.

Off the top of my head I remember the practical joke episode (leg) + the ET zoo one.

I would guess so.

I've heard good things, but waiting for all of S3 to come out, then will watch it all.

Finished re-watching S1 and S2 last night. I'm going to start the new season tonight just to show support for the show and get those early numbers up.

Ok, brain melt forced me to take a break. Watched Ep 1 and loved it. Much dark theme and a lot of the humor was gone. Really well done.

Peeps are right about S3E1 and a certain scene simply not being realistic. (Happens in the ship yard.) It just would never happen.

S3E2 has three very big logic holes regarding what would obviously be required protocol (see spoiler tag if you want), but Star Trek has pretty much always ignored it. The episode though is pretty good. Moments felt more like a horror film than The Orville.

Thus, so far my only gripes about this season would be just procedural stuff. Anyone that's been in the service, a lawyer, a medic, an accountant, a programmer, a pilot, and so on knows there are rules in place to protect against things. Anytime a loophole or area not covered is found a new rule is put into place to prevent it. But again, we could tear up every Star Trek show for the same types of errors.

1. No way does the Union not have a rule in place to prevent the three highest ranking officers on a ship lead an away party. And with the chief engineer and chief medical officer to boot!
2. Exploration without some sort of space suit or personal deflector shields seems highly unlikely. This has always been a complaint about ST.
3. No way does someone get exposed to an unknown virus (or whatever you want to call it and then not be quarantined. As Dr. McCoy would say, "What is this, the Dark Ages?"

S3E3 - Good episode. That's all I'll say outside of a spoiler tag.

Cool callback. I did not see that one coming. Also, nice philosophical discussion to wrap everything up. S3 is not disappointing so far.

Seth turned an episode (that was not made) into a novella:

S3Ep4 was pretty good. They've definitely gone the ST:TNG route here in S3.

Very, very weird and out of place scene around the late middle of the episode that is SUPER relevant. Makes me wonder if Seth is from the future.

This season has been taking a darker look at scifi. There's some fucked up issues being addressed.

Ep5 seems to deal with the trans issue, particularly on children. Not sure what the real message was because if you think about it, it's actually very pro-"be what you were born to be".

It also eliminated
Klyden for now. I hated that the Union would allow him to still be around after all he has done, so I don't hate seeing him gone.

Ep6 was dark as fuck.

Klyden sucks so hard. He and Bortis have a classic toxic relationship.

He could genuinely be the most hateable character in Sci-Fi history.

You know who I really miss though? Dan.

S3Ep6 is a palette cleanser. They brought back some humor, had some feel good moments, showed us a pretty important side story, but still maintained a bit of the darker side.

This season's darker tone had me waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire episode. I'm also very glad they took the path they did with Isaac.

It makes me wonder if this is the setup towards even darker episodes.
