Will be in LA and cost $1 billion.

How was San Francisco in the running? Everyone knows that's the home of Starfleet.

That may be exactly why. What better way for Star Wars fans to thumb their noses at Trekkies?

Have you never seen Star Trek IV?

I guess to be fair, the Star Trek universe only did it in CGI. Star Wars is going to actually put some physical stuff down.

I'll check it out, but seems like the kind of project that won't be open for a while.

The whole ending of Star Trek IV is them going to Starfleet HQ is San Francisco with whales. The fact that the rest of the movie before that also took place in the bay area was purely coincidence; those whales could have come from anywhere.

No, we all live in reality and thought this was common knowledge. You're the outlier, here.

I guess I never really think of movie things as being real places. Like the whole Gotham <-> New York thing, until people mentioned it 100 times, cuz they're a bunch of loser nerds.

The entire end of Into The Darkness is about him trying to destroy Star Fleet HQ in San Francisco.

"destroy Star Fleet HQ" is all that was left in my memory.

Star Trek Motion Picture: pretty sure they show Starfleet next to the Golden Gate bridge.
Star Trek 4: Whales: they literally crash under the Golden Gate Bridge under the star fleet window.
Star Trek Reboot: they clearly show the academy right next to Starfleet next to the Golden Gate Bridge. At the end the drill almost takes out the bridge when they were trying to destroy Starfleet
Star Trek Not Kahn: just mentioned, and the ship take out Alcatraz on its way down.

"Nerds!" all you want but it hasn't been subtle.
