- WSJThe city government of Paris has been dealt an unlikely punishment: a fine of 90,000 euros, equivalent to $110,000, for appointing too many women to senior positions and breaking France’s gender-equality rules.
The offense dates back to 2018, when Mayor Anne Hidalgo appointed 11 women and five men to her senior team at a time when administrations around the world were trying to increase female representation in governments. But with 69% of the positions going to women and 31% to men, Paris broke national government rules to promote equality, which require that at least 40% of new positions should be allocated to each gender.

Hidalgo said she was faulted because 11 women and only five men were named to management positions in city hall in 2018, meaning that 69% of the appointments went to women.
“The management of the city hall has, all of a sudden, become far too feminist,” said Hidalgo, who was re-elected for a new term at the helm of Paris last year.
According to the text of the ruling cited by Le Monde, city hall violated a rule dating to 2013 that stipulates one sex should not account for more than 60% of nominations to management positions.
Hidalgo said she would take the cheque for the fine to the government in person, along with her deputy mayors and all the women working for her.
Taking a more serious tone, she added: “This fine is obviously absurd, unfair, irresponsible and dangerous,” adding that women in France should be promoted with “vigour because the lag everywhere in France is still very great”.

Mr. Potato Head will NOT be going gender neutral as Hasbro backtracks.
I always thought him and his wife were already pretty gender neutral. Either can put on a moustache, dress, etc.

If I misinterpreted her statement, apologies, but that's not what I read from it. I think she's saying David is wrong to assume Mr. PH's gender, but David is correct in that Hasbro has said MR. PH is male. In fact, that's the whole point of this new announcement canceling him becoming gender neutral.
My point was that this whole thing reeks of some stupid PR attempt to boost sales via a SJW campaign (and you know how getting woke equals financial success...
) and the whole thing was unnecessary because he was already gender neutral. Now he's not.Gender pill

The only legit and logical solution is to create new categories for trans athletes. Then you're not oppressing biological females by making them compete against people born male, and while it's clearly not as big a concern, you're not putting those born as females up against biological males.
