6 days until the UK votes whether or not to cut and run from the EU. The last time they did this to the EC in '75, it was a 2:1 vote to stay. Four decades hence, the polls look too close to call. There's been heavy international pressure to stay in, too.

Brits tired of thinking.
But “leave” voters say they don’t really trust anyone. The difference between the two camps, Twyman said, is that “leave” voters “believe experts never get it right. If you’re a ‘remain’ voter, you believe that experts don’t always get it wrong.”

What about the ones who think the "experts" are lying to them?

I think "lying" qualifies under "never getting it right." If the UK splits, Scotland is going to be the first third-world economy in the British Isles. Ireland will barely be doing better.

I can roll my eyes at incompetence, but I take outright deception personally.

Polls say it's 50/50. Some even give the "exit" camp the edge by a point or two. On the other hand...
"At the moment, Remain is the odds-on favorite at 1 to 4, so that equates to about a 76 percent chance of the U.K. voting to remain in the EU," says Jessica Bridge, spokeswoman for Ladbrokes, one of the U.K.'s larger betting firms.

In general I'll trust the book far more than I'd trust a poll. They're staying.

Staying.

I imagine it's fixed anyway, one way or another. If voting made a difference, they wouldn't let you do it.

The EU is an interesting experiment in socialism. I know the Brits and Germans have to be tired of bailing out countries that can't control their spending, And then getting pissed that the people loaning them the money want them to be a bit more responsible.

The EU is NOT supposed to be that type of experiment. It's supposed to be a market-driven experiment in lowering transaction and trade costs, improving capital and human resource flows, etc. They have rules to make sure everyone is fiscally responsible to avoid that bullshit, they just keep then breaking their own fucking rules.

Indeed. There's a lot of socialism going around over there, but it's in spite of the EU existing not because of it.

Not disagreeing with either of you. Regardless of the aim, it's turned into those with means paying for those with greater self inflicted needs. As is always the challenge with these sorts of things, human nature keeps getting in the way.

A) I work for Thomson Reuters. There's a distinct possibility someone fucked up because our company hires lots of fuck-ups.
B) A load of places left to check in.

Definitely too early to tell, but I was surprised to see it. Might be closer than I had thought.

The "Goes" are pulling away a bit. 50.7 % with 138 of 382 reporting. Markets will shit themselves tomorrow if they leave.

There's at least one import album I want that I'm waiting to buy until Friday. If the UK leaves the EU, I expect the Euro will drop and people won't adjust prices accordingly.
Fortunately, it's in Denmark. I bet it'll knock $5-10 off. Hell, I bet the British pound goes down, too, which makes more records cheaper. I think I've just convinced myself the UK has to leave the EU for my musical good.
