Land mines - Arcane, lightning, shield. It throws them in a group out in front of you. If one is hit, they all explode. Fire works as a replacement for Lightning. Sets people on fire.

My favorite so far:

Lightning + Ice + Arcane = Beam that freezes and shocks the enemies. I can spray it back and forth and freeze multiple monsters as they are incoming. Mixed with someone launching rocks to bust up the frozen enemies, this could be a deadly combo.

The most powerful i've seen so far are the alternates of:
Steam + Arcane + Lightning + Arcane + Lighting

The Ranged Beam does a ridiculous DPS
The Special Key causes the Lightning Bolt (Which is great for instagibbing friends)
The AOE mutilates everything in a large circle.
Of course if you hit Self, you basically evaporate, so don't do that

I'm getting better with the shield types. One that I have grown to like is:

ice+shield+arcane

Lays landmines that freeze, or greatly slow down the enemies. I'm going to try laying them down all around me, then spamming water everywhere. This should lock them up in ice. Then maybe do a area spell throwing rocks everywhere to bust them up. Haven't tried that yet though. Just thought of it.

Another combo I found useful was:
fire+shield+rock
I'd cast it around me and it's burning rocks. As monsters came after me and started beating the rocks, they would catch on fire. I could repeatedly cast it to keep the rocks refreshed and burning. However, some monsters weren't hurt by the fire.

Lastly:
rock+fire
Cast with shift+right click, it will knock all the enemies around you down. Buys you some retreat time.

Troy, I may have screwed you over. I watched the rest of that cut scene, and at the end, you get a spell book with teleport in it. I then went up the path a bit, and it ended that chapter. There was no fighting. However, when we play again, it may start where I left off (after getting the new spell) and not back far enough for you to get the spell. So, maybe you need to fire it up yourself, get the book, and stuff.
