I like how he made Gun Girl say please before he would help her.

I liked the episode this weekend very much. It's back to the classic style of story that fits well with this classic style of Doctor. Very solid all around.

Actually, when that one was done my whole family agreed that it was about the silliest episode we've ever seen.

Huh. I wouldn't have thought "silly" would apply.

I'll have to watch it again.

Has every episode of this new season so far involved a ship that needed to be fixed and robots that were trying to fix it? "Into the Dalek" wasn't really a ship but they were still inside trying to fix the robot.

Heh, I hadn't noticed that.

Yes.

This last episode, "Listen," was a relief. To me it shows the show can still be good.... up until now the shows have either been "eh" or, as I said, silly. This one was classic Who.

Very. It was the sort of episode that would have children all across Britain watching from where they hid behind the sofa, thrilled and terrified.

Ending was weak, but forgivable given the high quality of the rest of the episode.

That was the episode I would rewatch, so of course it is the one I accidentally deleted from the DVR.

Regarding the one where they rob a bank:

spoilers

I liked it. I had the architect figured out from pretty much the beginning... but was the entire point of the episode that the bank manager felt regret for letting those 2 critters get killed in the supernova, and she wanted Doctor to fix it?

It would seem so, yes.

Had all kinds of distractions while watching it. I know I missed a line here and there, wasn't sure if I missed a plot-relevant one.

As she was leaving he gave her his phone number, told her he was a time traveler, and that when she was old and dying and regretful she should give him a call and he'd set things right. And she did just that.

Early on he mentioned a shopkeeper once had the number... what was he talking about? Sounded familiar.

Or I misheard it.

I wondered about that as well. Could be a throwaway line. Could have been a reference to something I can't remember.

Could he maybe have been referring to that girl from Blink? Did he giver her his number? I don't recall.

My gut tells me it may have been something from Smith's 2nd or 3rd season. Ultimately they all got tied together and it is hard to keep it all straight any more then there are like 30 episodes that tie together in a wibbly wobbly, timey wimey knot.

Post season impression:

I don't think this new guy is charming enough to be likable, and if he isn't likable the show will not go on.

I liked him a lot. He's more popular than Matt Smith was in the UK, which is where the core audience lives.

Here he's less so, because Matt Smith was the new audience's perfect boyfriend. Capaldi is no one's boyfriend. He's their cranky but remarkably spry grandfather. That's not going over so well with the US audience. But me, I like him quite a bit.

On a good note, my son now says that it is ok to complain because he is part Scottish.

If he hasn't worn a kilt, he's not a Scot.
