Biggest map changes in a while coming. Larger maps. Canyons. Lakes. And probably more stuff to kill solo players' ability to thrive...

Played this weekend to see the new maps and it's quite a difference. I still do not love the moves they've made that has made solo play damn near impossible, but there is nothing on the market like Rust.

I actually got curious about hosting a server of my own this weekend for funsies. Doing research and ended up scouting a server that had an entire business model and it was apparently really successful. They had a website where you could order things in game (gear, weapons, drops, skins, etc.) for really low prices (like $1-2 for most items) and during my play another player gifted everyone on the server (just under 100 at the time) 5 air drops.

They also gave benefits based on lvls built by XP (per wipe) and more based on time played on the server (lasts through all wipes).

They also had contests every hour like smash barrels, open crates, etc. and prizes were awarded.

They are doing something right because I gathered the server has been around a while and there were around 100 people on all day and night with people coming and going constantly.

Haven't played Rust in FOREVER, but if I come back to play we should do a force wipe together on a med pop server. See how long we can go.

It will depend on how much stuff you are able to gather/build for us to burn through! I've never felt like I brought much to the table. My goal was always to do just enough that you were able to do something cool/good. Gather resources for you to use your BPs to build the good gear. Run enough interference that you can kill them before they kill us. Etc.

It's been so long since I had last played that I don't even know the building meta at the moment.

Had fun on a low-pop today just remembering how to play again, it came back easy. Tried some new monuments, checked out all the things, and generally had fun. Peep the motorcycle I found and stored safely in base.

Haven't paid for any yet - but saw a few. My server already wiped, had progressed all the way to electricity and a t3 bench! Not much pvp, but plenty of things to shoot. Would totally play as a group if we can get our act together again.

Also - the motorbike is amazing, super fast, easily controllable, zoom around the map with it. Just repair it each pit stop. Can upgrade to a sidecar??

Crushed a short weekend wipe, I did small oil a few times with only green and blue cards, just to start progressing and get some guns - only to find bodies and dead teams wiped to the elite npcs - and open treasure rooms. I finished a few of the missions off and scavenged a fortune. Generally did ok in pvp, I tend to die fast in longer gun fights against groups, though.

Built an electrified boat base with the spoils of my toil. Rust do be fun sometimes.

It's been a minute since I've played a month's wipe. I'll have to log on at some point.

Will give the weekly Thursday wipe a go tomorrow, one of the severs. Or play BAR If I crash and burn.

Had a 'good' night in Rust. Got a base, got some gear, lost a LOT of stuff. Killed some people, died to more. If only we had some synergy. . .

Troy wants us to be good SOOOOO bad!!1! "This is why I play solo" hehehe

The gun I had at the end, I had no idea how to aim it. Front site is a twisted glob of metal and I had no idea which part of it to use!

So many things to work on if we do this more. But we do have potential!

I have that urge a few times in tactical situations - groups make so much noise and are so much slower!

I wouldn't trade the dynamic for it though! Between us losing a few gun kits here and there, there was some solid group play, objectives, hijanks, pvp, etc. Really good stuff. Sealed what we had left in a metal coffin and called in a night..

e: that gun, Me either you just point in their general direction and pull the trigger I think

Was online in the base late last night when it got raided - a bunch of c4 - the same group we were beefing with. But we were pretty poor, not worth all the explosives.

I spawned on a bag near outpost, ran in a direction for a while and hoovered, rebuilt a base near Satellite, had an airdrop land on me and give me some guns (?). So slightly ahead of where we were before being raided.
