Borderlands 2
So, when I crack level 50 with Zer0, who's in for raid bosses? Seeing as how I barely see anyone hitting up BL2 in a multi mood nowadays, figure I'd check.

Cool. Thinking it might be another couple weeks until I hit 50. Probably just in time for the cap raise.TheCatt wrote:meeeeeeMalcolm wrote:So, when I crack level 50 with Zer0, who's in for raid bosses? Seeing as how I barely see anyone hitting up BL2 in a multi mood nowadays, figure I'd check.

Anchormen and their kind die with only moderate difficulty now. The current nemesis is the rabid stalker. Cloaker with fucking insane amount of health plus shields plus an unfairly devastating ranged attack.

Yeah, that happened to me once as well. I mean, it was a ridiculously big jump, but still, had never died before on jumpsMalcolm wrote:WTF? I just died due to jumping from a ridiculous height. Fucking lying game hints. There was clearly land below me that I'd been to before.
It's not me, it's someone else.
My best guess as to why:
1) They obviously keep track of some kind of z-axis and can track if you're falling for a certain amount of time at a certain speed in the digital world.
2) Theory: something like "when you start falling for X feet at Y speed for Z seconds, you die." I think they key bit is X.
3) Why do I think this? It gives them a universal way to track "death by falling off map edge." If they set the X value to be something so far off the radar compared to normal map altitudes, they're mostly fine. In my case, and perhaps yours, we actually hit X when we jumped from that high up. I jumped off the plateau near Magnys Lighthouse trying to land back at the first encounter zone after the initial entrance. Bet I got about a third of the way down before I respawned.

Also managed to take out a grand total of one rabid stalker last night. Half the size of a psycho and they move faster.
Melee rush. Mirv 16x grenade. Couple dozen shotty blasts (four or five criticals in there) at short- to mid-range. Melee rush. Melee killshot. Had fought the fucker to a stalemate a few times prior to that. Getting tough to solo badasses without turret/Deathtrap to distract.

So... did some double checking. The elevator up to Magnys Lighthouse does not load a new zone, or if it does, there's no icon in the corner of the screen. Also again, kudos to the fucking dumb-ass the designed the level and put the nearest spawn point between a mission hotspot past three fucking enemy spawn areas. Seriously, fucking dumb-ass designer.
EDIT: Taking incremental jumps works. Zoning doesn't seem to factor in.

Finished Pirate DLC. Thoughts:
1) How the fuck are you supposed to find enough treasure chests to get the booty call challenge? Fucking hell.
2) Took me a looooong time to figure out some of the sandworms at the end were QUEENS and needed killing. Key to winning was getting lucky avoiding falling rocks and not having the fucking sandworms play whack-a-mole after they downed me.
3) Decent loot at the end for me. Couple oranges, new everything except class mod (which I guess I bought earlier).
4) Rabid enemies were overly difficult. I was only able to take out the rabid stalkers due to zoning restrictions and their shitty AI.
5) There's an homage to Little Sister and Big Daddy. I was able to knock BD off a cliff, but he didn't die. He wasn't able to come back up, either. Guess I'll go back for him.
About 25-33% through level 43. Took the first level of the shock hologram skill. Fucking awesome. Shatters shields and there's 4 upgrades to go.

Wow. Was going over the loot I got last night...
1) orange pistol that fires shock AoE orbs that explode on impact, then shoot up vertically and explode again
2) a goddamn 20x orange rubber MIRV grenade that does ~400K after all the child grenades get done
3) relic that boosts both melee and cooldown by +8% over the last relic
All my gear (except my relic) is close to on par with my level. Good melee relics seem to be a bitch to come by.
Also like how it lets you do the last mission again. Must be how they expect you to get those pirate chests. On another note, I need to track down the melee damage calculation formula someday, and damage calculation in general. I wonder what bonuses get applied where.
Next DLC up is Mr. TORGUE's Badass Campaign of Badassery and Baddassitude. Not even going to try to dent Hyperius the Invincible and I figure I'll swing back through Pirate DLC for challenges/bosses after level 50.
